Golf R to Cupra 290

Finance approved, admin paid and order signed for - Seat Leon Cupra 2.0 TSi 290 Black Edition - 5dr - DSG - Blue tac paint.

Delivery no earlier than December requested as the Golf goes back end of March. Returning 3 months early means I pay 1.5 months payment for early termination but save myself another 1.5 months payments and the cost of the second service. So using my best man maths it looks like I've saved some money by buying a new car

The wife will be pleased.... now to tell her.

I'm half the miles but amortised the price is roughly the same. £269pm x24 so no initial lump sum. That's on a 5dr black edition with metallic and DSG.

Your deal does look well priced for the mileage plus the fact I'd heard the SC wasn't getting the same sort of offer. From what I've seen over the years you can't really spend too long pondering the offer or searching around to save yourself a few quid. If it's a fair bit cheaper than usual and it's the car you want, don't miss it.

Thanks. Just waiting to hear back from local dealers to see if they can match. One has responded to say they can match the monthly payments but not the £1k dealer contribution. Will see what other dealers say but been advised the quote lasts 28 days so a bit of time.

I'm not so sure the 28 days is binding. VWFS have a habit of changing offers with no warning to dealers or brokers. A load of guys on pistonheads have just been shafted by VWFS on golf R hatch deals where they had quotes. Same happened earlier in the year with guys who were trying to chase the cheapest possible R estate when they done a flash offer on them. Loads of guys had quotes and they were told tough ****.

Like I said. I wouldn't drag my heels when the deal is good. Get it done and don't look back. It's like going on holiday. Never ask the family next to you at the pool what they paid. It doesn't matter. Just enjoy the fact you are on holiday.

My order says delivery in 12 - 14 weeks. I have agreed that I won't be taking delivery until end of December.

I ordered mine May 16th and it's ready on Thursday - 8 1/2 weeks.

That's a new factory order - 290 SC in Dynamic Grey

Lease brokers don't often do stock. You get the rare occurrence that they have a cancelled order or a dealer offers some of their stock that was over ordered to meet the next level of target.

Generally if you are leasing and need a car immediately you are resigned to checking the brokers stock sections on their site and taking what's there..... which is rarely great. Gone are the days when they would order 200 Mercedes C200 CDi's getting a big discount and sell them off on lease. The lease firms are more or less just middle men now, most never even see the car.

I'd say if you need a car immediately you'll need to get on the phone or go round some of the dealers who are part of larger networks as they will be able to search their national stock. Prepare to pay a lot more than the current lease deals though, those offers were only on factory orders as financed by VWFS. I'm starting to think they were offered as part of a plan to keep factory output up where it was stalling due to parts supply. That may explain why it was only on the BE with the wheels that are more readily available.

Central vehicle leasing have GTDs in stock. They are a bit more than the cupra deals at £2400 + 23x £191.99

If you know what you are looking for then try searching contracthireandleasing . It's a comparison site for lease brokers and it flags up stock cars in the results.

I've never leased or bought a new stock car so I can't say with any certainty. At a guess I still think you'd be looking at maybe 2 weeks possibly more. You'd have finance approval to go through then I believe some suppliers like to wait the 2 week cooling off period after the contract is signed before delivering the car.

If you are in a real hurry, used or stock new from a local place is your best bet. You could have a car within a week that way.

I rented a Golf R this spring in Austria for 5 days and I loved the traction of awd. I could not justify the extra cost at this point of my life. Happy with my Cupra so far. Some say Golf has better looking dash and higher quality interior..I must disagree. Both look the same to me but I'm not that anal with interior quality. If you value all-weather traction, get the R.

S3 seems to have better interior quality than the other two but based on my testdrive it is also the most boring car of the three. Numb and inert steering. Not that sporty or responsive to drive. For some reason I find it a suitable car for men over 60.

For me the S3 is the best looking of the 4 platform sharing cars (Audi S3, Octavia VRS, Golf GTi/R and Leon Cupra), but 2 major problems with it.

1) Audi Badge = Every person thinks you're a nob

2) To steel a Clarksonism, it under steers like a cross channel ferry despite the 4WD.

3rd problem for me anyway is boot isn't big enough either.

Next best looking car (IMO) is the Octavia VRS, the Saloon has a bigger boot than Leon ST (below the load cover anyway) However I cancelled my VRS order as after driving the Cupra, 220/230bhp wassn't enough

Golf - well every Tom **** and Harry has one, and I honestly think out of the 4 choices, its the most boring of the cars, and the most hideous of the estate cars (not that you need an estate for the Octavia).
