maybe he will race one of these next year

Renault I reckon. Flav has made it clear he'd welcome him back with open arms. It's either that or try and settle into somewhere else again. Can't see Fisichella being retained by Renault unless he's got another year left on his deal, but then again that can easily be broken. He's good footballer apparantly, Flavio might transfer him to QPR. :p

Whoever comes in at McLaren will have to be prepared to be a lapdog to his team leader.

I doubt that, mainly because that's the reason Alonso has left, because he got a competitive team-mate rather than a lapdog.

I can't see McLaren changing their ethics towards driver equality somehow.

Clash of personalities where Alonso is concerned, the guy feels he was World Champion and deserved an advantage. It's really easy to win when your have an advantage, how about proving your a champion.

i think he will be swapped for kovelienin or how ever you spell it.
Hes been linked to Toyota and Honda, hopefully a swap with Button.
Thats what i would like, all english team, that would be brilliant.
Button is FAR better than that peice of crap car hes been given, stick him in a McLaren and I recon he will be right up there kickin arse!!!

Maybe they'll change their policy now though? This year was very similar to the Senna v Prost days at McLaren in a way. Perhaps they would prefer a slightly inferior driver to Hamilton in the 2nd car, like Berger with Senna, Coulthard with Hakkinen etc.

Everyone seems to have forgotten about Button! He seems to like being the number one where he is presently though and has an ego problem apparantly as a result. I did like the story that he had a cigarette lighter taped inside his car in the Brazil GP, after saying he'd love to set fire to it at the end of the year.

Great news, though not totally unexpected.

Frankly, does it matter where he goes? He is out of McLaren and that's the main thing. Some teams do operate a No1 and No2 driver system but I think it is a much fairer team that runs equal equipment for both drivers.

I know Lewis did not make it to become the world champion this year, but he showed he is as good as Alonso in the same car. When did any of Schumacher's team-mates ever give him a proper race, or was even allowed to?

Roll on 2008, can't wait for it all to begin again.

btw, do you think McLaren will be able to retain Santander as a major partner without the spaniard in the team? I suppose they could always promote De La Rosa from testing to racing - he should be cheap!

Apparantly BBC news had their sports correspondant on to ask who might replace him. The guy said de la Rosa possibly, but that "he's a friend of Alonso's". And that means what exactly? Paranoia creeping into the British media.

Renault? Red Bull? Despite Lewis running roughshod over Fernando on a number of occassions this season I still believe Fernando is one of the top 4 drivers in F1 along with Lewis, Kimmi and and Fillipe.

Hands up anyone who thinks Alonso could go to Renault because with Fernando and Giancarllo back as the partnership they could return to the glory days of 2005 and 2006?

Well if you do then I seriously doubt whether simply putting Alonso and Fisichella back as the driving partership would make Renault the top team they were in 05' and 06'.

And a drive with a team who I view as just not consistent enough point scorers, and when they do score they seem to score in the bottom half of the points, just isn't seen by me.

I would love him to go to Ferrari, with Massa going somewhere that isn't silver in colour, to team with Kimmi Raikkonen but in all honesty what about a drive outside of F1? Say ChampCar?
