Well, after 3 1/2 years and 26,000 very happy miles I have moved on to pastures new.

I'd been doing that thing I'm sure we all do from time to time; surfing the net spending pretend money and wandering if various cars could ever replace the Leon we all love.

I'm a big fan of VAG products and had always admired the Audi S3 - having a couple of kids, the Sportback was on the list of possibles.

Before I knew it I was sat in the Audi showroom about to test drive an Ibis white demonstrator.

The Audi has a top quality interior, the model I was driving had been well treated on the the options list including panoramic sunroof, heated leather seats etc.

After a 25 minute blast around motorways and back roads the beautiful Audi had seduced me enough to do the numbers with the finance man.

I decided to buy the car I test drove - Registered in July 2011 been carefully run in by a nice Audi salesman :p It has the superb semi auto flappy paddle gearbox option

Not long afterwards I'm driving back to work knowing me and the Cupra were about to part company.

I picked up the car on Thursday evening having not told anyone what I had done.

My kids nearly fell off their bicycles as I drove into my road, my wife stood on the doorstep and said 'I hope that's not yours'!

I didn't really post too much on here but I would like to thank all the guys who spend a lot of spare time running the site, I'm sure I'm not alone in saying they do a top notch job.

The Cupra was one of the the best cars I have ever had - it never let me down, the engine was superb, brakes were sharpish but excellent; I really will miss it in lots of ways, but being a petrol head and being in a lucky position to spend my disposable on cars, the time had come for a change.

I will always follow the SEAT brand with interest and will look forward to the new Mk 3 Leon when it appears.

Thanks for reading my ramble :D

That's grounds for divorce in my experience! Good move though, lovely cars.

Nice car!!!

What was the cupra like to live with, in terms of running cost's and mpg???

I just can't make my mind up, I have a remapped Ibiza fr tdi which is easy on fuel and dont really cost much to run!

But from 55-60 mpg down to 30(?)mpg i just cant make me mind up lol!

Thanks Red Ibiza - I'm still smiling :)

Running costs for the Cupra - servicing was pretty cheap - I used a very good local independent, JKM in Portsmouth.

I only had a five mile commute to work but I used to get about 26 MPG and that rose to 31 MPG - but that's not driving like a granny either - I suspect the S3 will be a bit more juicy due to the 4 wheel drive - Mr Shell V Power will be pleased :D

The Cupra as I said above was a joy to drive and I didn't even have it remapped.

Agree, if I was to part-ex / sell my Leon and buy a completely different car, even while keeping it a secret from the wife, until I pull up on the driveway with it.... Great way to put (even more) strain on the marriage, plus she wouldn't trust me again (ie: what else am I keeping a secret from her). Seriously wouldnt be worth the grief!

However, am sure your new Audi is superb and that it'll live up to YOUR expectations. :D

Plus going from a Cupra, running costs/economy, arent too much of a problem for you as the Audi wont be any better.
