Picked up the FR this morning - what a beautiful looking car. Unfortunately it didn't have the heated seats which I was expecting being as it was leather. To be honest if I'd known that I wouldn't have had the car and I'd just of got one of the available red 5 doors instead with the cloth interior.
Also, the panoramic sunroof is just lies. There's nothing panoramic about it, at least the definition of panorama that I'm aware of (wide angle view). It's just a sunroof that only tilts. Unless I'm mistaken it doesn't even open up. Luckily it does make the car look a little bit more special... but not worth £450.
Anyway, niggles and annoyances and slight anger aside
(I suppose it was my own fault for not getting the heated seats concretely confirmed by the dealer), the car itself is excellent. The handling is superb, I purposefully took it the country road route to work this morning and threw it around the corners and the ride isn't noticeably firmer than the 1.6CR.
On the drive back from Nottingham, I got 53MPG and I did drive it like a bit of a tit
. On the windy country roads, constantly braking and accelerating, I still got 45MPG.
The real test will be the journey home tonight and the journey in the morning. I'm hoping for high 50s at least out of this the engine.
Initials impressions are that I've probably over spent on features I didn't need (although I must say the leather is very comfy albeit without the arse warming), but hopefully it'll save me £20 a month on fuel by my calculations, so it'll work out about £30-40 a month more than my 1.6. I'd say that's worth it.
Does anyone know what the leather is? It doesn't smell like proper leather, is it synthetic?
