Hi guys

I just wanted to clarify something as I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to these sort of things.

I have a seat Ibiza mk4 130tdi and wanted to add something small to sport up the car. I was looking into getting a green cotton panel filter however I also notice I could get a cone filter.

Can you guys advise which is my best option? I don't want heat seak and I am worried that the car will take in a lot of hot air with an open cone filter?

However I want to know exactly what a panel filter will do bair from the obvious.

Please bair in mind I have a diesel :)

Thanks guys

Well I have recantly fitted a Jetex cone filter to my pd160 Cupra replacing my old grrenstuff panel filter and theres no heat sole what so ever a ran versions tests to make sure look at my link of my readers ride under this for pics the only thing is u will need to make a bracket to secure the cone filter Plus u could do with a better cold feed for it over ur standerd pd130 intake

Thing is, I'd you have a Cupra.. You'll have a nice big front mount cooler. So there won't be anywhere near the heat-soak there would be on a normal 130 with a side mount cooler.

The panel filter will do very little and make no extra noise. The cone will make some nice turbo sounds and may even give you 1 or 2 extra horses but may suck in some warm air. You can fit a heat shield and fit a cold air scoop to help.

Agree with the guys above. I have the petrol FR and just fitted a cone filter the other day and im very happy with it. Makes such a great noise as soon as you step off the throttle you can really here the dv. I was thinking about getting a panel but glad that I decided to get a cone instead!!

I have a diesel so I think either way the sound is not nice :/

Downsides of having a diesl :/

I disagree, K&N panel filter on mine did make a difference to the noise, it wasn't necessarily louder but it changed the engine note. It made my 3 pot sound less whirry and a bit more growly. Also get 5 more mpg over a standard filter so I'm not complaining.

A cone filter will definitely be louder but I'm happy using my OEM airbox.

Alternatively you could just fit a panel filter and drill your air box? Should make a fair bit more noise!!
