hi, finally the time has come to get my seat on the road, charged the battery up and turned the key, brrrummm then nothing, so straight away i assume immobiliser, connected vag-com, checked codes and it says "engine start stopped by immo" or something along them lines, so just to be sure i went and bought brand new plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm from tps as the leads were cracked to bits.... tried again, fired then died.

so definately immo problem according to vag-com. take the ecu to a guy that unlocks them, get it back and now nothing, get 1 spark out of the coil and then nothing, noticed the fuel pump relay was going mad, rev counter is flickering up and down with just the ignition on and the throttle flap is flapping about lol im not to good with vagcom but clicked measuring blocks and its reading that its over 8k rpm  checked engine faults and it came up with something along the lines of "ingntion control module internal memory error"

so, does anyone know if i get another ecu, is it just a case of plugging it in and adapting it with vagcom? or is it a nightmare.

it did run spot on about a month ago when it was parked up and its a 2l 8v. AGG Vreg
:help:

before the ecu got messed about with it would fire and rev right up before it the immobilser killed it, thats whats put me off thinking that

sometimes they will start one time then not the next then perfect again after. has your immobiliser chip fallen out of the key?

haha. chip still in perfectly, but maybe your right, as i just went out and it fired and rev'd for about 5 seconds before it died.... gonna go to the scrappy tommorow and see if i can get a 2nd hand 1 to try. cheers

excellent, how much you want for it? also can i just plug it into my car and code it in with vagcom or is it a seat dealer job? changed coil today and that did nowt, if i disconnect the crank shaft sensor then plug it back in it fires every time but if i leave it connected it only fires once in a while, also it sometimes runs for about 5 seconds then shuts off other times it just fires once...... its definatley looks like crank shaft sensor to me, any input from anyone? gonna jack it up this afternoon and pull it apart, see what i find. cheers

took crankshaft sensor of before there, so need to order a new 1, gsf the cheapest? found tps was cheaper than everywhere for service bits

send me a pm if u still need one :)

Sounds very similar to my problem! I changed all the leads and plugs to, then got the immo removed and when you try start it now the fuel pump relay clicks like mad and it doesn't start up!

I've changed the fuel pump to, have you ruled this out on yours?

got it running tonight, cheers kez but its sorted now, thanks for the offer though, changed the crankshaft sensor, £42 quid from GSF (asked for discount, was supposed to be £49) took about 40mins alltogether, got the ecu back of the guy who unlocks them, plugged it in and guess what..... immobiliser!!!!!!!!!!! lol hooked up the vagcom said immo, so i went into immobiliser on vagcom, clicked adaption, read then save, then recode, ok.

turned the key.... and wooo-fking-hooooo its alive and staying alive lol smelt rich as fook tho, and blue smoke from the exhaust. checked the oil and it was stinking of petrol, obviously all the startup attempts and relay clicking like mad its fill the sump with petrol.. so got oil change to do tomorrow. great

Hmmm ... Sounds like I need a new crank sensor then!

When your fuel pump relay was clicking did the dials die aswell? And it didn't start?

the clocks would jump about even though it wasnt running, like up to 3k rpm lol and it wouldnt start
