Mate i'd seriously give up on GK if i were you, theyre getting you nowhere fast and they are spending huge piles of money on what they 'think' could be the problem, if a new ECU doesnt work then they are gonna find something else to charge you for. How many items have you had replaced now that were meant to be the problem but aren't? I would start asking for some assurance that you wont have to pay for a new ECU if its not that at fault as the bills going to total around £1700 then, thats practically what you could get another cordy for!

Take it to an independant VAG specialist or a specialist auto electric engineer.

people who may remember my previous thread about the things i have changed know that i've changed loads already, GK were provided with a list of what had been tested & was working or had been replaced - they have since replaced the following items - all of which had been replaced/tested already.

coil
distributor
plugs ???? (brand new plugs for brand new plugs)
leads (admittedly my new leads were crap quality)
crank sensor
coolant tmp sensor (after being expressly told that the new part i fitted was bought from them!)

as for the ecu, a company in alfreton who tested the ecu for me are doing me a good deal on a refurb, as they say an intermittent fault cannot be detected. If this does not fix the problem i want £150 off my seat bill - this is the outlay for a refurb.

I'm in an unfortunate situation now where seat have the car, have 'reasons' for changing all the components (if not my permission) and will continue to spend as they see fit. If i demand the car back now, surely they will have more grounds for wanting charges for all parts fitted as they have not yet cured the fault.

I'm waiting for the ecu to fix the fault (fingers crossed) then i can start to argue against paying for the other faults. Only problem i have is that after i fitted a crank sensor, the car would not start - GK have now returned it to the 'original' intermittent fault - presumably by fitting a new Seat crank sensor.
Proof, however is going to be difficult to argue.:headhurt:
