I've seen this come up a few times so I thought I'd post a guide up because it is very simple.

Tools
- 8mm socket

Time Taken

First time - 15 Minutes.

Second Time - 5 to 10 Minutes

Difficulty
1/10 - Very easy.

First of all open up the boot and you'll see 4 black 8mm bolts. 2 clearly visible 2 in each top corners of boot door.

Undo these bolts:

Then you need to disconnect the brake light, the clip is behind the rubber oval shaped grommet here:

Pop that off (can easily be done by hand) and you'll see some wires behind it, these are for the brake light:

And disconnect them:

Next, close the boot and the spoiler should be loose and not sitting flush to the roof.

Place your hand on it and put your finger tips down between the spoiler and the roof and your thumb under the lip where the brake light fits.

Now gently but firmly lift your thumb up whilst pressing down with your finger tips and pull towards you all at once.

The spoiler should then be off.

Then pull out this grommet:

And the wire you disconnected will come through with it.

That's the spoiler off!

Now all you have to do is remove the brake light from the spoiler.
To do this, undo the 2 screws here:

Undo these and now your spoiler is off and your brake light is separate!

To refit, just follow the above steps in reverse, literally.

Hope this helps :)

i did this the other week but cannot figure out how the brake light goes back in on the cupra spoiler there is no where for the white clip things where the screws go to go how have people done this as no mention of this? Also as posted the two middle bolts nearest the grommet are now too short they just spin so had to use some longer one si foudn laying about but i have no brake light now!

^^ ok thanks, so the whole spolier is just clipped on?? because i got the bolts going through and connected to just a clip on top, so it just loooks like it just all slides on??

the cupra spoiler is 4 top clip and two bolts underneath the two inner bolts do not screw into anything on the cupra one so you need to find some screws that reach it. as for the brake light i was rushing to get it on for a show so feel like an idiot tbh now lol use two screws that held the old spoiler in to screw in the new spoiler without the white clips things lol!

I've just ordered a cupra rear spoiler. Getting confused by the posts . Thought it was just a straight swap ? I'm
Lost now with all the talk of white thingy bits lol. Should I just take it to a body shop ?

No don't take it to body shop. Do exactly what Jordan's thread tells you, but on mine aswell as on Aimee's the two inner bolts arnt long enough do you just need two longer bolts. The clips are reusable you just need to swap them over to the new spoiler :)

Ok I will give it a go. Does the cupra only fix with 2 bolts then? What type of bolts do I need? Should I just take an outside bolt off and get the same but longer. B and q maybe?

I'm reading middle 2 bolts maybe too short ? The bolts are 5 x 10 as standard so any ideas what length I would need for middle 2 ? 5 x 14 maybe? Just wana get a couple so I'm not left without any I can put in.
