Those VX220 are quite cheeky. I've had a go at an Elise in mine and they it took off at the lights, but I caught some space back in 2nd gear. I've had a race against a VX220 in a scooby, and I was surprised how quick they actually are altho I did spank it.
The problem with the Cupra is if you just hammer it off the lights the traction control kicks in and slows the car down. Its best to control the clutch and and throttle as sensible as possible in 1st, then whack your foot down when you get to 2nd gear. I do agree though, they are pretty poor, acceleration wise, in the wet.
