Had the Cupra wrapped couple days back now and really happy with the results! Went for satin black and came out better than expected.

Oh wow, that looks ace! Really aggressive from the front. Is the front no plate going back in the usual place or you moving it somewhere else?

That actually works! Very stealthy.
How durable is the wrap? Easy to maintain?

Wrap should last 5 years which is good. As for maintaining im yet to wash it. But apparently easier to clean than gloss. Have ordered some matte/satin detailer and snow foam/shampoo

Theoretically speaking does that mean a pearlescent wrap is possible? I hate to ask... but what happens when some :censored: knocks your door? Will the wrap survive a hit and can a small section be repaired easily?

Very interested. What kind of ball park are we talking for a whole car?

Unsure on the pearlescent. If it gets knocked/scratched there are methods to remote slight damage but if large then would need that whole section replaced. Whole car cost £1250 which is avery material

It does look very stealth-like and is certainly a head turner. Personally, it’s not my cup of tea though as I like my car to be very shiny :).

@b8er1234; curious to know if your insurer increased your premium, as it would cost more to repair your car than one that hasn’t been wrapped if you’re unfortunate enough to ever need bodywork repairs. Also, if the colour of your car isn’t black under the wrap, do you need to inform DVLA of the colour change?

The wrap looks great! Always a fan of matte black. It could really do with some colour on the wheels now though, the black on black look is overdone. A set of gold, bronze, or silver wheels would look well.

Years back, you didn't because the car was still whatever colour it said on the V5 underneath. But I believe in the last couple of years DVLA changed it and you have to notify them now.

Yeah, I always think matte colours are a head turner. Agreed, although I went with matt bronze and kind of wish I'd gone with gloss bronze or copper. But, I may just chance the colour every year :D

No worries at all! Everyone has their own personal preferences and I'm loving it

Premium didn't increase. I have done a fair few mods to the car now and the first few were a one off cost but due to amount of mods any subsequent ones where "free of charge" will be interested to see what the renewal will be though.

For the DVLA if the colour underneath is different I believe the DVLA need to be informed. I'm gloss black underneath so will be going back to that once the wrap comes off

I saw a Audi TT local to me with what I think was pearlescent red, I asked the driver if it was sprayed or wrapped and she said it was wrapped, I was very impressed (with the look of the car and the driver!).

Needs pictures next time (and of the car!).

I may be wrong but I was under the impression DVLA didn't need to be notified anyway as a wrap is temporary and can be removed.

Just done some ‘Googling’, and it seems that if a vinyl wrap changes the colour of your car, you need to declare it to the DVLA, even though the colour change isn’t permanent.

Apparently, if you’re stopped by the police or your car is picked up by APNR cameras it’s a different colour to the original factory colour, if you’ve not advised DVLA, you can be prosecuted and get points on your licence for not declaring it.

I think the confusion around letting the DVLA know is on a change in the rules.

If memory serves, it used to be if you wrap the car but leave certain areas the original colour (inside of doors, inside of bonnet etc) you didn’t have to declare it.

I think they realised that was a stupid idea. It makes sense you have to declare it if the colour is different. What is it a £50 admin fee to change the V5C?
