Hags Leon FR 2.0 TDI 230ps DSG

Hi guys seen a few build threads and really nice to see where people’s cars started and how they ended up.

I know from the forum it also helps people with ideas for their own so here’s mine.

Mine started as a Leon FR Technology 184 TDI DSG and was a standard car as below

It wasn’t until I started looking at other Leon’s and joined this forum I started playing with the car as was pretty happy when I got it.

1st mod was to very simply wrap the front grille gloss black as there was no other chrome on the car at all and I think it makes a massive difference for little cost

Next came the alloys and I thought that would be me done. I chose a set of 18” VW Spielberg alloys as I wanted the car to look almost standard and someone recommended them and sent me a picture on a Leon and I was sold. Haven’t seen another on the road with them on

Rear roof spoiler and TRC front splitter came next as it just didn’t look sporty enough and I’d seen plenty of Leon’s on here with these bits and they looked great.

Next I got a new Silver DSG trim for the gear-lever to brighten it up inside a bit and then had the car remapped to circa 230ps which has made a massive difference to the performance with no effect on the economy.

Last few bits I added on the outside were front fog light tints (although still undecided on them) and a Maxton Rear Valance to square off the back end

Last change I upgraded my stereo to MIB 2 with Car Play and the latest maps and it’s made a massive difference. All done by Kieran at East Yorkshire Retrofit Solutions who also programmed my mirrors to fold when I lock it and turned on my rear DRLs.

Looks ace! Looking to possibly do similar to mine. How did you fit the rear spoiler and rear diffuser? Are they bolt on / bolt off jobs or do they require some cutting etc? Cheers! Matthew.

Thanks Matthew. Happy with how it’s turned out. I had them both fitted by a local Bodyshop and no cutting required. Spoiler needed painting and they were both bonded on

Have to say, of all the FR's I've seen yours is the one I like the look of the most - it's an absolutely fantastic looking example.

I've only had mine a year. I've resisted modifying my last 2 cars as I spent a small fortune on the 2 previous. So far I've not touched the FR either, however if I was to do anything yours would very much be the inspiration.

Cheers for your kind words, really decent feedback. It’s the 1st time in 17 years of driving I’ve actually had my own car due to having a company car all my life and really happy with how it’s turned out and even with mods still a lot cheaper than buying the equivalent Golf
