Hi Guys,
My car is in the garage getting the cam belt failure damage repaired, the technician noticed a hairline crack on the casing of the turbo, has anyone else encountered this problem and what problem did it cause in the long run,.would be grateful for your response, since its in the garage i could get that sorted in one go if need be.there is not much price differance between a recon one and new one£650:censored:i have been told the crack can be sealed with a metal bonding, would this be ok in the long run?.anyone have one for sale?..let me know a.s.a.p

As far as i remember, lots of the K04's do have cracked housing especially on higher mileage.
It can cause problems but depends on how bad it really is.
For a standard K04 tho, used/recon don't pay anythin near that, they go for about 275quid on ebay for a good 'un.

if i was you mate get it changed while the cars in bits, turbo is the most important thing when it comes to boost, dont use that stuff they stick over the turbo!! it wont last you long,if it s your pride and joy like my lcr is??!! do the job right.
Makes sense...........

go for a new turbo for peace of mind and warrenty issues......

Go for a new turbo and at the same time get a better one :) *wink* might as well have some good out of the situation! hehe
