Morning all,

I am currently at INDEPENDENT AUTOMOTIVE in Coventry.
So far they seem really good. They look at the car for free, for the first 15 mins. Hopefully it won't be as bad as first thought.

I need to fit a new breather hose and throttle body. They have said £200 to do the lot. Is that good?

Just a quick update. The reason I need the work done is because the car keeps cutting out and the revs are all over the place. I noticed that the breather hose was split. I took it to the above garage this morning and they looked at it for 15 mins free then came up with whats wrong. They told me that the hose needed replacing and that the throttle body would ideally need cleaning, as the split in the pipe would have deposited lots of more dirt in it. They wanted £200 to do the lot. I have since been told that a small and very trusted garage near me would do it all for £88. The car has done 125,000 miles and I bet the TB has never been cleaned.

yeah, which is why I never cleaned it myself. I have a basic hand held system, but it only tells you the fault codes. Handy though so at least your not in the dark if something goes wrong.

as I dont know that much about cars, I only learn when something goes wrong. I got it off of ebay only £25

I think it's called VAULK. It's in Spon End. Under the arches. I have been recommended by a few people to go there.

Seeing as we are talking Coventry, anyone used VASS Specialists? Located on A445, by the police training place. Very close to the A45.

I haven't heard of VASS? is it any good? There was a nice black cupra r up volks this morning. Looked very nice indeed

Just picked my car up from volks, all seems fine. Would deff go there for anything else that I cant fix my self. They have said I need a new MAF sensor. They have quoted me £118 fitted. Im sure you can pick them up for around £60/65? Are they easy to fit? Is it a case of un pulugging and un bolting the old and on with the new? or am I missing something?
