has my turbo broken?

hi can anybody help me as my leon tdi 150 started to play up on me mainly when its cold or been sat with engine running for a while 1st and 2nd gear when accelerating seems to be holding back boost and when i change gear it makes a load chatter noise also sometimes makes a slightley differant whistle/whining sound any advice will be greatley appreciated thanks

Mine did EXACTLY the same thing, get it checked out soon because mine now needs a new turbo, i think the turbo hesetation thing was brought on by a sensor fault (in my case the MAP sensor) but because I took so long to fix it I think that led to the turbo being damaged. it now whines all the time, hense a new turbo its on order!

thanks will do that tomorow i have been told that the car as been remapped but done badly and that it is over boosting and underfueling could this be the problem i'm having

I dont know if over boosting will damage the turbo because I would have thought it'd go in limp mode first........but hey its an excuse to ugrade lol

Limp mode is designed to protect the turbo. But when you remap, the safety margin is reduced.

I was using a RocketChip stage 2 program, then got a great deal on a Garrett "super stealth" 18.

But part of the deal was, there was no warranty as long as I was running the RC chip, or at least not the program I had, or at least not unless I installed a boost valve. I never had any trouble with the stock VNT-15 turbo, and the new one is stronger, but the distributor is looking out for himself and doesn't want possible overboosting because of software that is outside his control.

So I'll be switching to different software that will still give me good power, I hope, but also not abuse the new turbo.
