Hi,

Currently driving a 21 plate seat Leon fr

The other night driving home I had a number of people flash me to indicate my headlights were glaring as if they were on full beam setting even though they weren't.

When starting the car against a wall I can see the auto adjustment kick in and while the lights drops initially it then adjusts higher. Also when I flick the full beam on there isn't a massive difference in the projection of the light which again makes me think they are auto adjusting too high.

Can anyone advise if this is something I could resolve myself or needs to go to a dealer to reset?

Thanks

My old '21 plate car had a levelling fault, although it would drop too low if there was anyone sitting in the rear seats or load in the boot. The dealer didn't want to know, although that was under warranty at the time, so you might get more help as you will be paying.

If it's just started doing it, but was fine before, then first check the sensor is still there and moving with the rear torsion beam. Otherwise try adjusting the headlights down by 1/2 to 1 turn, see if the dipped beam is better before paying someone to try it.

There isn't a big difference between dipped and full close up to a wall, I'm always wishing my full beams went higher on fast country roads.

I’ve had people flashing me past 3 years on lights, it past first mot though so assume it’s just modern bright.

Led and xenon lights are known to be brighter.
Only garage has the correct tools to adjust the headlights. Because that is needed for the MOT.
In the Netherlands that is being done by every garage.

With a headlamp device in front of the car you can adjust it to the correct height.
In general it dips down with 1 to 1.3%
In Netherlands it needs to be 0.5 to 4% for a pass for MOT.

Cars with automated system needs to be set to this.
There is no rule or way to check it for MOT.
But for the driver they can load more weight in the back to compress the suspension more.

By doing this it will show if the lights stay level. If it moves too much it is fully related to software and the sensors.
Myself never had a complain about this. Or mainly because one of the snesor the arm broke of and was not moving. Meaning not given the correct height
