Heater blowing cold air only

Hello,

Only noticed today that my cars heater blows warm air for the first 10 minutes of a journey when the car is warmed up but then the air is stone cold no matter what temperature is set..... I've checked my coolant level and it's just below max... only had it serviced 6 months ago if that's any help.

Seat are going to charge £99 just to plug it in, does anyone have any ideas why this is happening at all?

Thanks

First thing - which engine is fitted to that car?
Second thing - does the coolant header tank have "MIT SILIKAT" printed on it?
Which system is fitted manual or auto AC?
Other option for this is a failed temperature flap motor assembly - one check that you can do for that is to demand Hi temp, wait 30 secs to give the system time to move the flap, then demand Lo, wait 30 secs to give the system time to move the flap - repeat that at least 10 times, doing that might clean up slightly, the positional feedback track and allow the temperature control to start working again for a start time.
Edit:- obviously I'm guessing that you have not had any issues with coolant lose recently, or had the coolant system opened up - ie trapped air in system.

Hi , thanks for replying

First I don't know about the engine, u can't see any writing on it anywhere. There's nothing written on the coolant tank. I gave auto AC. I'm trying your suggestion now and thank you for it. Nope I never had any problems. No leaks or anything to do with coolant. I only noticed this problem as I drove to London and I was In the car more than 20 minutes, the hot air works for about 10 mins. I'm on cycle 8 now with switching from hot to cold so I'll see if it works. Tha k you very much

I think the response was asking which engine e.g. petrol/diesel and size/output e.g. 2.0 tdi 150ps

There are issues with heater matrix blocking on some engine variants which will cause the problems that you are describing.

Oh right sorry, I thought the question was more mechanically technical as I'd have no clue. Its a petrol 1.4, seat leon FR 2017.

Okay, I've done the above suggestion and within minutes of starting the engine the air was very hot, repeated the steps about 10-12 time then left it on warm for 10 mins and it seemed to work. I'll have to go for a drive for 30 mins and test it then.

Thanks for all the help

To be honest I think it may have just been me..... all I did was put it in maximum temperature and it heated up straight away.... I just assumed 22 degrees would heat the car.....

Unless blowing at maximum restarted something
