Hey there - stumbled across this forum - looks to be of great use :)

Tomorow, im going to order my first car, an ibiza 1.4 16v sport in grey metallic. Anyone else have this model? Are you enjoying it? What bits have you done to it?

I am still 16, but im 17 on the 2nd of Feb, but hope to get my test done pretty quick. Been driving from quite an early age, and did my tractor test last year :):):cartman:

I have always been a VAG fan, ever since i helped build a project car for a friend, which was a mk2 golf with a VR6 lump and mk3 golf dash.

Just posting to introduce myself really:)

Oh thats a nice welcome! lol!

Nice choice of car and colour!

I myself purchased a BRAND NEW 1.2 SX Ibiza when I was 17, nice car to have, problem is, once you have such a nice car to start with, it will be hard to beat in future years...

Ive owned a 1.2 Ibiza SX on the 04 plate, then traded it if for a 1.9 TDi Ibiza FR on the 05 plate! Needless to say im skint! But grin each time I walk outside and see my car :p

Personally, unless im stupily rich in the future I wont buy new again me doest think, 6 months old, a year seems about the right time to snap up a bargain! But I cant imagine me not getting either of my cars!

Welcome to the site, and good look on your driving tests (buggers at failing you first time for no reason!)

Enjoy!

Ah i get you know, but if i was in the same situ, esp with the new one comming out, i wouldnt, or at least wait till nearer the time and get a better deal. Sorry if i came across harsh, but it will be a cracking car just dont be a idiot with it like alot of my mates have and thrash the hell out of it, "slow 'n' pimping" is the way to be :p

Yeh, he's lucky in getting it, and its good to see you havnt gone for the typical "vauxhall corsa, renult clio crap"

Ive allways had to but my own car :( but they paid for the insurance so it wasnt so bad.

Let us know how you get on, work on getting your theroy test booked on your birthday, and after the first week of driving ask your instructor how long you need and book your test for then

Im not suprised, i bet yours has depreciated loads since you got it, nearly 20k miles since march, i wouldn't buy new if i were you either. But yes, once you do have a new car with all the toys, its hard to go back to an old car afterwards.

Thnx for the warm welcome lads!

Yes i admit I am EXTREMELY lucky in that i am getting the car that i am. But i have insurance on my side, because my father has a timber distrobution company , they have to insure all of the lorries, company cars, and personal cars, so i get it cheaply - in fact, 580 quid fully comp!

I ordered the car earlier today, and grabbed a couple more options with my haggling skillz :) i got the mp3 CD player and steering wheel controls thrown in, aswell as mats and mud gaurds. My friend knows the familly who own the seat garage, so i got a brilliant deal, with those options and metallic platinum grey paint, for £8775 :):)

Yeh i didnt go for the average corsa, clio etc. I am into stuff which is well built, and i LOVE vag group cars, and the ibiza seemed well priced, sporty yet well built, (and its a bit different!)

Thanx again for the feedback !

Very lucky on the car and the insurance mate, I had to put up with a 1.0 12v Corsa for my first year and a bit, but just upgraded to an FR TDi, so more than happy now :D

Hope you pass your test, and have a safe and enjoyable intro to driving :)

You have to get a mini fleet policy. Thats how my family did it, my dads got a small LTD comapny, and i gt insured on a 53 1.4 Ibiza and i paid next to nothing to add my name to the policy. Also means your insured on anything the company owns, i.e vans, parents cars and all that.
