Hi,
picked up our candy white fr today and it's a MY 08 car as they were launced about two weeks after we ordered and before it was built.

Can anyone who has a MY07 FR have a look in their glovebox and tell me if they have the key that allows them to disable/enable the passenger airbag?

If it has did you request it or did it just come as standard?

Thanks

p.s. the FR is awesome. We got the dsg variant with the bodykit being fitted next week. also have winter pack, conveniance pack, ipod, 18"s, bluetooth

anyone know if it can it be dealer fitted?

looks like the dealer didn't know they had to specify and just told us it was standard!

but surely the loom etc must all be there? what if you had it fitted and it went wrong. the dealer would replace parts to fix the problem?

i wouldnt be so sure. making a profit out of a car is all about not giving stuff away that the customer isnt paying for.

if you think the wiring is all there for bluetooth, convenience pack, rear parking sensors, sunroof, winter pack, tomtom etc etc, i think you will be disappointed. it all adds up to alot of wire which is added expense to seat, which they wont go for.

you dont get owt for nowt, and thats certainly true with cars.

sorry, you aint gonna get one. however, if your dealer said that your car 'would' come with it, then that is a different kettle of fish altogether.

did they?

oh dear. now you have cause for complaint.

do you have a little one so that would occasionally have the requirement to use the disconnect, or if you dont, do you plan to have one in the near future ;)?

either way i would go back to the dealer and say it was a requirement of yours, and you were assured your car would have it, and what are they going to do about it?

dont be fobbed off, get what you think you deserve. you can always threaten to return the car as its not as you ordered.

precisely the problem chris.

baby expected in October. that's why we sold my wifes 330 M-sport convertible.

I don't fancy waiting another 3 months for a factory order car.
I hope they come up with a good alternative.

We have a 3 year old already and my wife is definitely going to want the baby in the front of the car when she's out and about on her own.

This has been one of the worst car buying experiences ever (and i've bought a lot of cars) c**k up after c**k up. this is the final straw.

I've now got a car that my wife has gone from being really excited about to not wanting it and in tears. She's hormonally challenged at the moment but it's still not a great situation to be in as i suspect they'll say it's the salesmans word against ours as to wether or not we mentioned the airbag requirement and to top it all he left/was pushed shortly after we ordered the car!

Have you got any dealers near you? I am sure that one of them has the technical staff know how to sort out an alternative to the factory option :)

Unfortunately you are suffering for lack of knowledge on the part of the salesman! The switch was a no cost option when i ordered my car last year but you had to specify it as an accessory on the order or it would not be included in the build. ( I looked at having a switch retro fitted to out Alhambra but the garages would not touch the airbag wiring!)

most dealers will specify when ordering the car wether you ask for it not because it was a no cost option ufortunately if Seat now charge the dealer wont just ad it on. you can however have the passenger airbag disabled most dealers will do it my old place (Leicester) will do it

I don't have one either, didn't really look into it at the time i just assumed any decent car would come with a disable switch!...

Might be a problem in a couple of years time... will see what we have to do then, even if its just to totally disable it via vag-com

sodding stupid if you ask me..
