Hey people!

So yes, something rattles in my boot during the drive on a bumpy/uneven road.
I have looked where the spare tyre is and everything is tight and secure
I'm not sure what else it could be?!?!?
Although it does sound like its coming from the boot latch/ seat Leon badge

Has anyone else had this problem?
Any cures/fixes?

Let me know please
Thanks

Sure it's not the parcelshelf? Other thing to check is the small latch things in the boot lining that give you access to the rear lights.

I have found the problem, I think its when the boot isnt shut properly and wobbles a bit. Basically the mechanism that locks the boot makes contact with the steel bit ( lock rattle/hitting/knocking the round steel bit). I would of thought there should be some sort of shock absorbing material around the metal pole thing that the locking mechanism locks onto?

I mean, i opened and closed the boot a few times and still had the problem. and for some reason it went back to normal tonight after i tried opening and closing again.....

This problem could be annoying if sometimes the boot isnt closed properly?

Let me know how i could fix this permanently.
Thanks guys!

I too have a rattle coming from my boot area when going over crappy roads, mine kinda sounds plasticy though, i know it's NOT my parcel shelf (took it out - rattle still there!), and my spare n tool kit seem to be fastened down well enough so im pretty sure it's not them either!

I have wondered if it's the plastic trim that covers round the latch and lower boot lip that's flapping about on the bottom edge as you can get hold of it and jiggle it about, but also i've searched back through the forum and have seen several threads going on about having to adjust the latch as the boot lid isn't pulling too quite well enough! To this end can anoyne please advise exactly what tool i need to undo the two bolts on the latch so i can adjust them, Tried what i think is a Torx bit- but these bolt heads have twice as many points on them, and my torx bits don't fit!???

Not sure my problem IS my boot lid tbh because as i say it sounds too plasticy but i'd like to be able to adjust it anyway to be sure!

I've just found a rattle from that area.... a few wraps of insulating tape round the boot catch and it's gone!

I had tried removing the parcel shelf, removing the lightbulb access covers on the boot, opening those carpet flaps for the other lights, wedging the polystyrene jack holder, none of it worked so very happy to have found the cause now!

I found the error a while ago, basically mine was caused by the boot not closed properly.
All I did was man up and put a bit more force into closing the boot.
That way the boot latch was connected tight and no more rattle!

And the post was 4 months old, but quite fortuitously I have a similar rattle and am now trying the tape around the boot catch method, will report if fixed

Well, I did up all the belts still no effect and then when I saw your comment this morning I emptied all the crap from the boot netting compartment thing in the side and low and behold the noise had gone. However, I am currently high as a kite on night nurse and beechams so the results may be slightly inaccurate. Will have another listen on the way home as I was sure it couldn't be this as the noise was neither more or less with and without the parcelshelf in place.

Glorious news I have finally fixed my rattle!!! For proper this time, the thing above didn't work. Right on the passenger side, where the catch is to fold the seat down, check that, that was what was rattling!!! Little bit of double sided sticky foam stuff, in black of course, and its solved :) very happy man
