hi i am looking to change my headlight bulbs to something whiter and brighter;

I have looked on website : Aceparts

they have h7 bulbs in 70w and 100w are the 100w ones just brighter?

I have read gainfull shrimps thread and am looking to change my sidelighst and main lights but i really want a simple plug and play option with no bulb warning lights or the need for changing connectors and soldering??

Any help is much appreciated.

I would avoid the 100w bulbs as they might fry your wiring and damage the headlight

Stick to a bulb like Philips Xtreme, Osram Nightbreaker Plus or Ring Xenon Max 100%

HIDS mate, i know you said you don't want to commit to soldering...blah blah....but you won't regret it! :)

If your uncomfortable doing it yourself, get someone else to do it, mine were supplied and fitted by a company near me for near 100 quid! :)

I'm not what daza has linked are CANBUS compatible so you'd better make sure before you buy them otherwise you could get a bulb error.

You might be better off with something like these

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NO-ERROR-CANB...CarParts_SM&hash=item4cf176bba2#ht_1421wt_907

These should work without any bulb errors

If you do search yourself make sure any LED bulbs you buy are CANBUS compatible

the 1`s i linked were canbus compatible with no error codes Ian.

I was in the exact same position as you, wanted the brighter whiter light but didnt want to mess around with ballasts etc for the HID's.

I bought the Osram Nightbreaker H7's from Powerbulbs.com and got a free pair of philips white sidelights (hardly any different to normal ones but cant complain)

Heres some photos, hope they help.

Drivers side are the Osrams and new sidelights.

The Nightbreakers are whiter and produce alot clearer, concentrated light than standard bulbs.
They light up the road much better and although they are not as white as HID's im very happy with them.
They come with a 12 month guarantee from powerbulbs.com, great deal for £25.

i have looked at the hid kits but without boring anyone and starting a debate on the issue.

are they not illegal???

Im a copper , so i hope not! :p No they are not illegal as of yet, however depending on the quality of kit, it may fail an MOT because of the beam pattern! :) Hope that helps!

I don't think sniperftw is 100% correct there. Aftermarket HID kits are almost-certainly not legal for use in cars on public roads, for various reasons. This is why all the kits you buy are generic and no main brands such as Philips or Osram sell them. If you read the smallprint, it will usually say "offroad and show use only" or similar, for that very reason.

However, there's somewhat of a grey area as they are deemed OK in certain countries, I believe.

If you fit a HID kit of an OEM-like colour temperature (such as 4300K or 5000K) in projection lenses, then you are very unlikely to be caught out by either police or MOT testers. But that still doesn't make them legal IMHO.

this is what i thought.

How many people realistically get caught out by the police.

Whats the punishment ?

Can you refer the headlights back to the original after fitting hids

I haven't heard of anyone who has been done for it and yes you can go back to normal halogens very easy. Just buy 2 new rear covers for the headlights or fit two 25mm gromets.

That's true actually - I think I paid about £15 for (genuine) replacement covers for the headlights when I took out the HID kit I had in my FR when I sold the car, so it's not much to change back to stock if you need to.
