Help with stone chips please

I think a respray would be overkill unless you wanted to change the colour or have some other damage for which a respray is the only option.

There's a DIY guide from a specialist detailing forum here:

Stone Chip Repair Guide

Or there are companies who specialise in these types of minor paintwork repairs (the paint equivalent of the windscreen chip repair people you frequently see begging for business in retail centre car parks around the country)...

I have some stone chips on my bonnet and on the front of my car, any idea how to get rid of them? or does it have to be a respray?

Depends what your looking for from it? If you want a good finish your looking at respraying the bonnet and front bumper and blending in to the wings so the colour match is sweet. For quickness and a semi decent job smart repair, id only use them for dents amazing but id go with respraying myself but can be pricey.

most body shops or damage repair / paint shops should be able to do the stone chipping and keep it localised without the need for respraying, if done right the touch up kits csan be effected but I'd use the technique in the 2nd post link to achieve a good finish.
Mine's in for damae repair atm and I asked them to do the chips whilst it was in, they said it wasn't a problem at all to do, nothing of a job for the pros

Yeah they can but most of the time the jobs look bad and very noticeable. If you want it done right you need to blend no if's or but's. With spot repairs your asking for trouble down the line i.e peeling and possibly the paint coming off if jet washed.

I've got a Chipex kit.

Your can't go far wrong with it, I used it on a chip a bit bigger than the size of a match head next my my grill and it's done a very good job. You can still see the repair if you look closely, but that's more to do with the slight ripple in the plastic where it hit than any other reason.

One thing I would say is that the blending compound can be a bit tricky to apply on smaller chips. I found it was taking all of the paint out of the chips, but if you go gently and take your time you wont have any problems. It's not a job to be rushed, be prepared to spend a decent amount of time to learn how to apply it and get the best out of it.

Also the colour matching was absolutely spot on! Highly recommended!
