Hi all,
After fitting a K&N 57i induction kit to my 2.0 tdi i have noticed the engine hesitates when pulling steadily away at low revs around 1000/1500.
If i take off a bit lively there's no problem and she goes like stink. I read somewhere that the ecu
Should compensate for any change in fuelling but i fitted the kit around 500 miles ago now.
Any ideas or comments will be appreciated.

Thanks
Neil.

To be honest, get rid of the KIT, it's no good for a diesel engine. What's more what about the MAF sensor ? did the kit have any mounting spot for it ? If you want more response at low revs, a panel filter will be best, although it's not that you'll get big HP increase, it's just more air for the Turbo. So it spools a bit faster.

Hi Buddy,
Thanks for the reply, all the kit, pipework etc is before the MAF sensor so didn't have to disturb it.
I had a K&N panel filter fitted before i got the 57i kit on the car and i have to say the mid/upper rev response is brisker with the 57i but at low revs in town it can be a bit embarrassing when she hesitates then as i input more throttle lurches forward!
So i'm not entirely sold on the idea as i don't want to put any undue strain on the engine.
Do you reckon i should bin it and revert back to the panel filter?

Hmmm, the main question is " is it worth it" ? But to get things straight, Maf is integrated with the filter box, so what the kit looks, is it just the TIP (turbo inlet pipe) between the stock filter box and turbo? I would get a clearer picture If you could share a pic here. Before I give any judgment or advice. I know a thing or two on custom TIPs and piping (have a modified Ibiza 1.9tdi ATD 101hp stock @212hp/400Nm, and an Altea 2.0tdi AZV 136hp stock @220hp/438Nm, and. modified almost everything by myself (not talking about ECU remap ) so I could help a bit I guess :)

Ok , on the other hand is your IC and piping ok? Hermetic? No leaks ? Because just had a second thought on what you wrote earlier. When your piping /IC is not hermetic, you can lose a bit of boost (depending on the size of leak) in low revs, but then have a slight overboost in the top revs - might have been a coincidence. Do you still have the stock filter or the panel filter? try to swap it for tests. If low revs are still lagy after going back to stock, then there's something wrong with your piping/IC, if it's better, then the Kit is no good or a remap is required. But lets see how the kit actually looks first :)

I don't think i am allowed to post an attachment on here according to the Posting Rules at the bottom of this page.
The kit in question is 57-0618-1 on the k&n website.
The car has been remapped 2 years ago by custom tuning.co.uk, they came out to my home and did it.
It's supposed to up the power from 136 to 175 bhp and the torque from 320 to 395 nm.
I hope this info helps.
Many Thanks.

Just another thought, will i need another remap to marry the induction kit to the engine?
I read somewhere that the ECU would sort out any fuelling issues, this doesn't seem to be the case though.
Any ideas on this?
I appreciate your thoughts and findings.

Anyone?

You shouldn't need the remap redoing. Especially if it's a branded stage 1. Theres no settings to tweak on a diesel. Afaik the mapping just increases fuelling.

Would go back to stock to see if this makes any difference, if it does, then you got an answer. At least you'll know there's something wrong with the Kit, or it needs adjustments
