anyone point me in the direction of buying a decent on of these (HEX-USB+CAN)other than from ross tech, as there really expensive and postage will break my budget as I am buying an activation code 2 any help much appreciated thanks

A HEX-USB+CAN includes the license for VAG-COM -- no activation code required.

I managed to pick one up off ebay a few days ago. A proper HEX-USB+CAN originally from Ross-Tech including software release 607 and drivers....

all for £87.00 plus postage. Bargain!

Just keep an eye out. There were 4 available when i spotted them but they all soon went.

Version 607 is now outdated, the free update to Release 704 is now available from our website. We've also added/fixed some things related to older models like your Leon (1M).

FWIW, the new version will also show which modules are covered by label files and which aren't - feel free to send me an Auto-Scan from your car and if something is missing you can also attach a Control Module Map from the module which isn't documented - that would help us much. One other thing... do I need to uninstall version 607 before installing the newer version? Or do I just install it over the top?

It is not necessary to uninstall old versions.
