New member here, just wanted to say hello
I've just bought my first Seat. It's a '14 plate Leon SC 1.4 TSI FR 138 and I'm collecting it this Friday!
It'll be a big change from the Mini Cooper I started off with.

The dream is to get a Cupra one day (fingers crossed). I was initially going for a 150 ACT, but it wasn't in as good condition or as good spec (3 mid range and 1 premium tyres, clearly repainted and loads of wee dinks on the passenger side, no tech pack) as the one I bought.

The one I ended up going for was only 1 year older, only did an extra 4k miles, 10bhp difference but had tech pack, a spare wheel and was (most importantly, for me) a whole £1k cheaper.

I personally didn't feel a difference in the test drives so I'm quite happy with the purchase. Don't think I'll miss the 10bhp...

Hoping this forum can be my go to for advice on taking care of the car

Welcome to the forum,

You're definitely in the right place for taking care of your car.

A warning getting into car detailing is a very slippery slope lol

We have a training course being planned soon if you wanted to join in... - https://forums.seatcupra.net/index.php?threads/autobrite-training-day-car-detailing.446200/

Be more than happy to help if you need any tips for cleaning.

With regards to the engine side of things you could post any questions in the MK3 section - https://forums.seatcupra.net/index.php?forums/leon-mk3.309/

you'll have to take some pics and upload them when you have enough posts (25 I think)

Enjoy!

Welcome to the site and sounds like a nice car you have.

Re looking after the car check out the MK3 How to guides link in my signature.

But important one is https://forums.seatcupra.net/index.php?threads/leon-mk3-official-seat-workshop-manuals-link.442353/ thanks to @paddy6789 which includes the service schedule. Be warned Garages often dont know what is supposed to be done.

If you are into looking after the paint on your car check out https://forums.seatcupra.net/index.php?forums/car-care-and-detailing.129/

@walshy it's technic grey. I'll probably not end up doing any modifications, I am generally useless with cars :help:
I was useless with cars but with the guides on here you'll find you get the hang of things quickly, you'll be modding in no time!

Might be worth checking out OBDEleven (https://obdeleven.com/en/content/7-app-and-features) or Carista as these give you options within the car that are normally disabled...

@theoldboy has a thread going with bits you can do - https://forums.seatcupra.net/index.php?threads/obd-eleven-how-and-where-to.443994/

You'll be ship shape in no time!

Nice car to start with. I’ve had the Leon FR 140 and a Leon FR ACT 150. Both great cars and I’m sure you’ll have loads of fun driving yours.

Have to start somewhere and to be honest when you do eventually get a Cupra you’ll do nothing but smile...and be skint.

Lots of helpful people on here and @Jimbobcook and @Legojon are you detailing men and @theoldboy is the man for any OBD11 tips and modding.

Have fun

Yup, I'm very skint. Haha, cheers, I have many strings to my bow not just detailing. Like um, sticker placement.

Oooh, seeing as you've had both engines - what would you say are the noticeable differences between the two in every day driving?

I didn’t really notice much of a difference to be honest. I’d had the FR140 for 18 months and that was a big difference to the Mk2 1.2 Leon Copa that I had previously.

The FR150 was not much of a jump from the FR140 in terms of power but I did find the mpg increased slightly.

Now moving from the FR150 to a Cupra 300 is a MASSIVE difference..but that’s a different story.
