HID Conversion Kit

Hi all,

Looking round for a HID conversion kit for my car. Is there a kit that does both main and dipped beam?

If its only worth getting the dipped i will but will it not look odd with yellow main beam lights?

If anyone else has done this please let me know what you did.

Thanks
Danny

For twenty five quid, they'll either be cheap rubbibish or a cracking bargain. Thing is, at twnety five quid you could likely afford to take the chance.

For what it's worth, I'm happy to put my money where my mouth is - I've just ordered a set of 6000ks.

There are loads of threads on here about HID's,from what i've read & ther are loads with HID's,go for 6000k they give a nice white light, you won't need main beam but there are plenty of ice white bulbs on ebay.I@ll prob go for this kit H7 for dipped & H1 bulbs for main

Hope this helpa

Yeah i was looking at this kit the other day, for £25 you can't really argue. I've heard that they are illegal but they are supposed to be plug and play so there is nothing stopping you changing back to the old bulbs for MOT.

I will order the kit and post some feed back, anything's gotta be better than my dull yellow lights

It doesn't matter what kit you put in there all illegal I got pulled the other day for mine and had like a 20 minute lecture on why tey are illegal, and only factory fitted ones with washers and levellers are legal

Surely they can't tell the difference between the factory fitted and after market if you were just driving past. If you fit and align them properly then i would imagine it will be fine

I went through my MOT last month with them fine. I was even asked where I got them so he could get some for his car.

I have 8000k which were already fitted, I will be buying 6000k bulbs to replace... don't need new ballasts.

But I asked my MOT guy and his words were "The MOT procedure is a joke at times, the HIDs are brighter and let you see further.... whats the problem"... passed it with no issues :)

thats also down to the officer's discretion, when I got pulled it was a £30 fine, when my mate got pulled in the same week - he was given a vehicle defect form which he had to take to a garage to get sorted and have the form signed...

Mine arrived yesterday, fitted them today. A bit fiddly to fit (there's nowhere to mount the ballast on the offside) but looks much better. Just need to sort out the sidelights now - they look a little odd.

Not bad for twenty five quid and half an hours work.
