edmong1981 - I'm interested in your opinion on another similar matter. If you install upgraded brake discs/pads/cables for example which are installed because it stops the car quicker and therefore is "safer" do the inspectors/insurers treat these mods in the same vein as tyres/wipers etc. Or is it the issue the insurer sees them as making the car more likely to be stolen. (grooved brakes in general look better and make the car more desirable.) Saying that (not my thing) but I know that a nice looking tyre tread can make a car look more desirable.
I know where your coming from but when you look on the part of your insurance about your car being modified in any way, there is a part on their for your breaks. Surely this is just the same as if you change the airfilter/exhaust etc you have to claim it on insurance as this is not a standard part in their eyes?
I agree, that why should you have to claim it, but insurance company's will worm their way out of payment anyway they can, although you pay them for your car to be insured.
I know what you mean totally, but insurance companys dont see it from our point of view. If its not standard then its a mod, which they want money for and prob wont cover
