got my twin kitties taken out and had a 100 cell high flow sports cat put in...i was told i would see a minimum of 15bhp increase and a lot nicer sound.

i havent noticed any performance gain, and the exhaust sounds exactly the same as it did before...apart from a slight different tone in the mid rev range.

what gives?is that normal?i thought a sports cat would be a good step...

i put a decat on mine and it dont sounds much different.. when i lift off at 3k it sounds fairly aggressive and cruising at 70 and out foot down it sounds a little different..
dont think you will get much sound from just the cat replacment its the back box that is restrictive

its the cat and stock dp thats the most restrictive not the rear box, the silencer in the rear box muffles the sound...

is the car mapped to incorporate the dp and cat?

I think he's more concerned why he never got 15bhp after removing two cats, and going for a far, more freer flowing cat.

Actually for you to physically notice 15bhp your doing well, get it on the rollers and see what it says now compared to the last time it ran.........you do have one to compare too, don't you?

thing im thinking lee is although 15bhp is pidderly.. if the engine isnt tuned its working half heartedly to start with. im assuming this is running a stock map.

a blandly mapped 225+15 vrs 265odd tuned to full potential, louder, bigger power band..etc.

ummmm....yes.

to be honest the only before and after rr im going to have is before the remap with my finished mods, and after the remap.all that is left is the silicon TIP which iv ordered.
do i need the silicon induction hose too or will the standard one be fine with the remap?

so once its remapped,it will even make the sound a bit better?

EDIT: i was advised that replacing the original downpipe would be more of a waste of money,as it is an expensive job with not much to gain from.so i left that out....

My lcr is mapped so by what i've read if I fitted a highflow dp I would need to have it mapped again just to suit it???

Wouldnt it be better if the dp was mated to a bigger bore system and not the standard item first???

youd need custom mapping to incorporate the higher flow rates of the larger dp and cat, also you say you have a custom map but no dp and cat etc, then why would they custom map, altering logs for normal flow rates etc....

generic maps are for standard cars with light mods, i.e induction kit
custom stage 2 or whatever for more mods, full exhaust, t.i.p intercooler etc
stage 3 for big turbo runners

also the dp and cat is the restrictive part not the rear box, if you look at a standard dp then the bends and twists it has in it are v.restrictive, but an aftermarket dp/cat are generally strait to the cat, the cat being 100/200cel not 400 like oem....

i didnt do the dp as the garage said it wouldnt make a huge difference so left it.forgot about the after-map though...

which garage mate? seems daft to put a freer flowing cat but keep the bottle neck above it.
may be worth ringing the likes of jabbasport or similar for another opinion.

it was RMS exhausts, they said they dont see the point in upgrading the original 2" dp to a 2.5" dp,they would charge me the likes of £300 pounds and it wont make a huge difference...so if i get my car remapped i wont see the same gains as i would with the uprated dp? *yet more money to spend*
