Evening all,

Thought it was about time I stuck a thread up with my progress so far.

I used to have an 06 Mk1 Leon Cupra R, loved it, but sold it to another member on here (Ape) who has since taken it to a whole new level lol

Some pictures when I owned her:

And when I sold her:

I then went Jap (booooooo) and put my RX8 PZ back on the road:

Was a great, fun car to drive, but lacked the out and out power and 'modability' that other cars offered.

After pottering about in a french piece of shite for a bit, I bought an 06 Audi TT Quattro Sport:

Great motor, great interior, but understeered soooo much it's untrue.

After a trip to the 'Ring in it, I realised it wasnt for me . I just didn't have the confidence of the other cars I've owned, and it was a bit 'tame' to be honest.

So now, after really wanting another Hot Hatch (I've got a real soft spot for them), and needing to cure my need I bought a 2008 Leon Cupra!

It has all the extras (bar leather), including Aero Skirts and Spoiler, Bluetooth and SEAT media system with iPod dock under the drivers seat.

In one word: Awesome. I love this car. It handles brilliantly, has bags of power and potential, and looks gorgeous.

Day I collected it:

Next up, a set of Eibach Sportlines ordered and fitted:

They made the handling, that was brilliant to begin with, even better. The car’s turn in was improved, and body roll was reduced. The ride maintains an OEM feel, but slightly stiffer, with bumps absorber better.
Also, importantly, it lowered the car to give it a more purposeful look :D

I then started to refurb the badges, front and rear, but didn't want to do it the usual black or white etc, so I decided to do Urban Camo lol

Pretty pleased with how its turned out to be honest!
Next up, I bought and fitted (with the help of my good friend and fellow SCN member Techie – Cheers matey! ), a Neuspeed 25mm Rear Anti Roll Bar.

I can’t stress how different the bar makes the car! The understeer (which was minimal to begin with), has all but vanished, and replaced with progressive oversteer.

Took some pictures after a quick clean on Sunday:

Plans next:

- I’ve ordered a Forge Twintake cold air kit from Damian at DPM, hopefully being delivered this week
- The car is booked in for a remap session; can’t wait to see what gains I get!
- Also have the car booked in to have the wheels refurbed in matt black, to match the theme of the car.

Will get an update up when the Twintake arrives :D

Cheers for reading :D

Car is looking good mate, mine has got bluefin installed, and have a RR graph showing 308bhp and 420nm torque. You be amazed at the difference, I drove a standard Cupra and it felt flat. But a stage 1 just transforms it into an RS chaser!

Yeh I cant wait mate! Hoping to get it mapped as soon as time allows.

Like I've said, the Twintake is on order, and I'm thinking of getting a High Pressure Fuel Pump too. Should see it well over the 300bhp mark :D

Also want a set of shocks, but not sure whether to get coilovers. I'll be tracking the car a bit, and I only drive at the weekends and occasional week nights, so comfort isn't an issue.

Just don't know how much to spend or what to go for

The ForgeTwintake has arrived!!

It's a proper quality piece of kit, every piece of pipe is made of aluminium, and every join has a corresponding piece of Forge silicon hose. Even the MAF housing is aluminium, perfectly welded to the turbo intake pipe!

Anyway, picatures :D

Hopefully being fitted tomorrow night, weather permitting :D

Well, fitted the TWINtake on Friday night, with the help of my good friend Spanner Ape (cheers big man!):

The kit overall is quality, and, despite some initial problems and fitting worries (the kit fitting a bit wonky!), we managed to get it fitted no problem.

The first problem was the engine cover removal. On the Cupra, the oversized engine cover is also the airbox, and as such it was held on by 4 rubber 'mushroom type things' and a couple of clips that do a good job of securing it, but also make it a pain in the arse to get off! Much pulling and swearing later, it was off.

We then had to remove the Turbo Intake Pipe, which was equally hard to remove due to the clips being in a hard place to reach.

Next up was installing the aluminium pipework and Turbo Intake Pipe, securing with the Forge supplied jubilee clips:

Picture of the MAF that was removed from the old airbox, and screwed into the new mount:

After that, it was a matter of fitting the twin airboxes, and securing the air scoop to the front grille:

Done!

The car definitely picks up much quicker, and now makes a nice whoosh noise, which was lacking in the standard setup (sometimes you'd think the car was N/A...which is not on at all ;) )

Looking forward to seeing what it feels like after I get a map put on!

Cheers

Very nice its coming along very well, I'm hopfully getting myself a nice Mk2 Cupra when my Cupra R gets picked up this tuesday and im looking forward to starting from fresh with it

How are you finding it after the Mk1 Cupra R? will i miss it as much as i think i will!? mine is stage 2 and im looking to have the Mk2 cupra stage two within the first few months.im just hoping its as much fun im aware it will be quicker but how much!

Jay

Isnt there an intake pipe for the second filter?

There is, but it's really designed for the Mk5 Golf, and so doesn't really add any benefit. Me and Ad had a look at it, and it was only going to be bolted to the bumper, with half the headlight in the way of the intake  Can't see it adding any benefit at all, so leaving it off.

Hi Jay,

I think you'll love it. I know it's easy to say that, as it's my current car, and I'm in love with it :D, but it really is a great car.

The power deliver is completely different, very linear and smooth as standard, but very pokey. The steering response is fantastic, perfectly weighted and sharp at higher speeds. It loves the bends, and grips very well for a FWD car.

One mod I would strongly recommend is the Rear Anti Roll Bar though, it's really killed the body roll that there was, and has made the car feel much sharper. It's also taken nearly all of the understeer away.

Stage 2 in the LC sounds great. Hoping to have mine at Stage 2 by the end of the year, and from what I've read on here, the Mk2 chassis seems cope with 340bhp+ quite well. Looking forward to it!! :D[B)]

My new favourite pictures, not the best quality, but love it!
