my curpa tdi has just started to have a hissing noise from the front of the dash, which sounds like the fan is on, when i accelerate! It does it in all gears and stops as soon as i stop accelerating but it doesnt do it if i put my foot down in neutral only when accelerating in gear! Any ideas what could be causing it? I did have the radio out when fitting a double din radio could i have disturbed the climate control system?? It didnt do it when i bought the car a week ago!

Check for a boost leak. Broken or dislodged pipe somewhere near your intercooler? Not an expert but got same problem on my FR, pain in the ass! Car still drives ok???

i will check the pipes. Is there an easy why to know if its leaking as you cant get it to hiss without driving it? Is there a normal pipe that leaks? The engine is running fine which seems strange if its got a boost leak!

i have found the problem. It was the rubber elbow pipe coming off the back of the manifold going into the pipe leading to the intercooler. It had been rubbing on something below it and put a hole in it. Looks easy to fix but its £48 which seems excessive for a pipe only about 4 inches long!! Just got to work out how it was rubbing as it wasnt touching at all when i looked today?

1stly i dont know the pipe your talking about but if it hasnt any special fittings just measure the diameter needed and order some aftermarket silicone replacements. as for the rubbing check engine movement & mountings.

Ive got a new one from seat now. Its the pipe in this egr delete guide http://bazmcc.com/faqs/EGRDelete.html Its held on my a jubliee clip one end but the other end locates in the egr and has special metal end which clips into place.

I will have to check the engine mounts I dont want another hole in my new pipe!
