Yeah I looked into this before and for the work involved it just isn't worth it on a normal KO3 setup

Isn't that what the secondary water pump is designed to do when you switch off the engine?

well if your on long journey take time and wait a couple of secs not hard. if they was ment to be cooling they'd have a fan on top of turbo pmsl:lol:

Yeah its common sense to wait 5/10 seconds for the oil run through the turbo, but then I switch it off and let the secondary water pump do the rest, its what it's designed for and therefor must be capable of the job IMO

The length of the journey has nothing to do with brains.

If you don't have time to take it easy on the last couple of miles or don't have time to sit in the car for a few minutes to allow the temps to come down THAT is when a TT comes in very handy.

Maybe not a fan but ducting to the turbo would help things, smart ar5e!

well think about it mate secondary water pump. not being smart arse mate but just whats point in tt when you can simply sit in car for few minutes . or as you said drive nice for last mile or so. plus tt void your insurance ;)

lol maybe a min or so then let secondary water pump do the work

I thought about it years ago. I also said that if you don't have time to sit in the car the TT becomes very handy.

Driving over the speed limit voids your licence but i bet you do from time to time;)

Yes believe me I know how hot a turbo gets.... And I'm sure the manufacturers who spend massive amounts on design and research know how to design an efficient cooling system for their own car, rather than something an aftermarket turbo timer could do.

I can see where you're coming from, and I know what the benefits of a TT are, especially on a big turbo, I'd have one if I owned something like an Evo, but for a standard setup on an every day car like my Cupra I don't see the need

Not everyone has a standard set up like yourself though. The TT isn't trying to do the job of the secondary water pump it kicks in once the TT has finished. It's an added safety feature for your turbo/engine.

I like having the option of leaving the car to cool with out me having to sit in it. Mine is usually set for 2 mins.

Evans1089, if your not to sure about the electrics on the car and your going to get a TT I'd get an Auto Spark/Mechanic to give you a hand.

Yeah thats fair enough, and if I had anything bigger than a KO3/KO4 I would definately have a turbo timer, my point is that I dont see the need for it on these cars with standard setup :)

These cars have a secondare water pump that pumps water through the turbo for aprox 30s once the engine is turned off. Better that any turbo timer.
