I was having a play on the weekend and have come up with a cheap simple system, although its not finished. What you lot think,

When the pump is connected to the battery it gives a very good even powerful spray across the whole intercooler. Iam currently waiting for a illuminated push button and trying to figure out where to put it.

It is a Ibiza MK3 headlight washer pump, with 6mm piping and ibiza washer jets.

I will do a guide when its finished if any one is interested.

matt does it spray fully across when stationary or when on the move? silly question maybe but ive noticed that water gets affected bigtime when doing 30 mph plus, my windscreen jets are almost too high whenim in traffic but as soon as im moving the jets are bent back down to the bottom of the window fine. Theres a job for you, drive along and get a mate to hang out the back of another car taking pics! :D

sounds good mate, my intercooler is huge and fully open so may take a little more to make sure the spray is right.

Let me know when it's finished

dont need to do this, got aquamist :cartman: , i did a trial of a spray, and it made circa 3oC difference, but that was marginal. e.g. from say 44oc to 41 after a good soaking. :)

what intake temps are you getting using aquamist flash

wonder what liquid nitrogen sprayed over the intercooler would do as i have lots in work

might be a bit OTT and freeze the whole front of the car:lol:

so do you have washer jets anymore, or did you use a seperate pump?

seperate pump by the looks of it - iirc the mount/provision is still there standard just no hole and grommet ?

PS- Renault pink screen wash is high alcohol content and is loved by turbo owners using aquamist

[B)] bet a new craze starts for iceboxes at service station - top up ya washer bottle sir ;)

It is a separate pump. Headlight washer pump for a 6K ibiza about 30 quid. It has a 6mm outlet and flows alot more then a standard windscreen washer pump.

The way the nozzles are sprayingnow it sprays directly onto the intercooler covering the vast majority of maybe leaving 1 inch in the middle untouched, this is when its stationary, But home made, its never gonna be perfect. will test intake temps when its all working.

Just need to figure out somewherefor the push button to go thats easy to reach when giving her some stick.

:cartman: i was going to post the log but nobody would believe me so im not gonna bother, i saw a max of 43 with the laguna IC standard, im now seeing between 16-27 with aquamist, when off boost it doesnt even go near the 35's. Very happy, its like a cold morning all the time! The day was a 17oC ambient. so it pretty much equals the outside temp when on 23psi boost! :D

We seem to be talking about 2 different things here, water injection and an intercooler spray.

Not the same thing.

Thats awesome mate, i've been thinking about doing something similar, using a bar across the top and bottom of the IC.

But if you could do a guide that would be awesome.

If you got the part numbers, i'll update the parts thread too!

Cheers Tom

Im not sure but as an option you could also use a I/C spray bar, and cover more surface of the I/C, and as it'll be directly infront of the IC, it shouldnt be affected by wind force.

like this:

But there are other versions available from garden centres i believe, which probably wouldn't be as good.

Also found this while looking for a spraybar, and seems to be quite full of info:
