Can anyone please shed any light on the problem I have with my horn? Its always been a bit temperamental but now it doesn't work at all. Its as if something was slightly loose but has now disconnected. I have removed the two caps on steering wheel - the wiring under the left cap is all intact but under the right cap one of the soldered connections has broken off. From this you would assume that the right hand side wouldn't work, but why isn't the left hand side working?

The other puzzling thing is that the horn works when the alarm goes off!

My husband has checked the fuse(s) and these seem OK and there is power at the steering wheel end on both sides but we don't know where the actual horn unit is at the other end to carry out the same power check. Could someone please let me know where this is located?

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Repair/re-connect the broken connection as IIRC its all part of the same circuit!

Sounds like a short or poor connection somwhere!

How about checking the appropriate relay.

Thanks for your suggestions. Not being mechanical at all, do you have any idea where the relay switch would be?? Thanks.

Thanks - but we don't know where the horn is located - any ideas??

Thanks - I'll take a look, but to be honest I haven't a clue what I'm looking for in the way of size, shape, etc. Sorry!!

The relay's/fuses are located behind the lower glovebox below the steering wheel. A Haynes Manual (Halfords) will tell you which one/number it is. The horn itself is in front of the passenger side front wheel, up behind the bumper.

TBH a Haynes Manual would be a very wise purchase to start familiarising yourself with parts of the car. Otherwise these threads are gonna be very long and frustrating!

Thanks and totally agree! I was wondering if there is online access to the Haynes manuals.
