Also 105 bhp engines (1.9 Pd TDI's) and 140 bhp engines (2.0 PD TDI's).

I didn't think the 2.0 engines where Pump Dusse... I thought they were Common Rail![]()
I believe they are common rail from what I have read up on, both the 140PS and 170PS guise.
Also the 105PS model has the updated ECU16 on the 1.9TDi and the earlier version came with 100PS
Confused yet?![]()
2.0 16v 140 bhp and 170 bhp engines are PD and they run an EDC 16 ECU
If im honest I always thought the newer units were PD engines, but was told otherwise, and as I assumed they were, just thought meh, I was wrong! lol guess not!
Common rail's are cheaper to produce surely?
Aparently so yea... most other TD's are all Common Rail, yet the VAG TDI is known to be one of the best there is - perhaps keeping them as PD's might not be a bad idea.
Ive always rated VAG and BMW diesels engines around imho.

The next generation of VW TDI engines will be common rail.
