I need to change the steering column top bearing !! I have bought the part so just need to fit it !! But I have a problem !!

I tried a Vauxhall/Opel Steering Puller which was not wide enough !! Tried a Draper one and it wouldn't grip !!

How the hell have any of you got it off ??

Cheers

how i do it is.. get a puller around the collar.. then get a friend to clamp the puller with a big pair of munchies.. then i screw the puller in and hope it comers off.

otherwise.. buy a new collar and slice the old one with a hack saw

Hammer and chisel is just as affective. I never use a puller.

Just watch you dont hit your self in the face when the spring comes off.

Managed to get it off with a hammer and chisel.. Then realised I couldnt get the lgnition barrel out of it. So put it back.. Now I have a knocking when you turn the steering wheel back and forward slightly, but only at a particular position ?? Any idea what it could be.. If defo coming from the top of the steering column !!
