how do i program second key?

hi, i have just bought a mk 1 leon cupra r 2004. i have a flip key which works correctly but the second key is a normal key with no buttons and just a seat badge on it, this key unlocks the doors ok but sets off the alarm when placed in the ignition and will not start vehicle (immobiliser cuts in).

how do i program the second key? tried reading faqs to no avail

If the car is locked with the remote the plain key will set off the alarm unless the ignition is switched on within 15 seconds that much is supposed to happen.

But if they key isnt programmed you need to go to a dealer as it will be coded online.

I had same problem in my car, dealer tried to charge a fortune to reset so went to a large parts distributer (Marshalls) who did it for free after buying a new battery for the fob

Mine did this. You need to synchronise the keys. It tells you how to do this in your owners manual

Dealer job or some auto locksmiths can do it.

Alternatively a place like Timpsons can clone the immobiliser chip using your other key for about £30
