had my altea go to a main dealer (seat) in reading for some warranty work, quite a lot actually, how it passed the "102 piont check" god only knows but thats a different story,
came back with piant scuffed on front bumper and what looks like a car door has been opened near it and dented the swage line on the rear pass door slightly, on complaining to the dealer about this

a, they reckon i can t cut the paint on the front bumper and

b,it's not our fault the dents werent there before

well sorry they where because i washed the car before it went to them but how can i prove this as it is their word agaisnt mine and also it is a 140 mile round trip to them!

any advise appreciated[:@]

Emmer Green by any chance? This is going to sound a bit 'told you so', but if you had done a search on here first you would have found that the general feeling about them is they are expensive useless :w4nk:'ers. Complain in writing and CC a copy to SEAT UK. Don't just take it, kick up as much fuss as you can until THEY repair ALL the damage they have done.

At the moment its just one individual which isnt a concern and you dont have much weight.

I suggest you write a recorded delivery letter to SEAT head office, complaining about the appalling level of service, and also include photos of the marks.

I would also send a letter to Trading Standards or similar, and include a copy of that letter to the one above to their head office.

I think they may be judged by their performance by head office, they certainly used to have a consumer survey program, i used to work on it. Get noticed by head office and i think you will get it sorted

Ask the dealer in question to provide a full signed, dated damage report of your car from when the work was carried out (it should be signed by the tech who carried out the work and another emplyee such as the service manager), most of the time this will be on the job card.
A damage report should be carried out when a car is due to enter a workshop because it prevents the garage from being held liable for that damage it has before work is carried out.
it should be in there company records which are typicaly kept for 12 months.
If not follow the advise of others and complain like mad to seat UK (there number is in the yellow pages) and they WILL get it sorted. they're sometimes unreasonable with the dealer in order to please the customer.

:(It's no wonder. Seat dealers were rated only 24th out of 30 in a recent JD Power survey.VW were 23rd,Audi 16th.Skoda were rated 2nd!.Think i'll get my Ibiza serviced at Skoda next time.

there are good bad and ugle for all groups...

i tried a skoda garage once and its the worst thing ive done in my life.
Incompetant doesnt even get close to what they got up to.
For spares they are great, get what youy ordered and usually cheaper than VW audi or seat, but let them go near my car. never again.

But to balance that i know people that have great service from skoda.

There are 2 audi dealers near me, the experience was chalk and cheese. One more helpful than another dealer ive been to, while the other wouldnt couldnt be less helpful if they tried.

Like most things you have to rate each franchise on an individual basis. Just finding a good place can take time...

i had the same thing when i took my beloved toyota corolla in for a service, they were rude and patronising and treated me disgustingly in the first place (toyota kidlington, oxfordshire) then i picked it up to discover dents all along the side - small but noticeable. i ranted and ranted and wrote 2 letters, in the end they sent a man to my house who was really good and nice and resprayed the side of my car free of charge. keep ranting it will work!!

i usually ask for a report before i hand over the keys, going around the car with them asking to mark off the paper of any damage. they keep a copy and i keep a copy. if anything is new they have no choice.

just like renting a car, they go around the car with you and when you return it and they find something wrong theres no getting out of it!
