Same thing happened to me last night due to pothole - tore a hole in the side of the tyre wall, must have taken a hell of a lot of force to do that. Rim looks ok though, so just a new tyre (until I find out otherwise...). Only problem is, after the weather of the last two weeks no-one has a single Wintrac Xtreme in stock.

pot hole s guilty hit it doin around 60 was around 6 inches long and the shape of a tear drop .would claim off the council but need the car daily and havent got the money to sort it so insurance can fix it and they can claim off the council

so did you end up claiming for the wheel/tyre and a check of the alignment or just the wheel and tyre?

yeah seen somthing on gmtv about it the other morning cant under stand y they dont just keep them better and not have to pay all the money out in compensation to people . and as the road tax rises there should be more than enough to go round

I hit a few potholes and weary I might of caused some damage. I have not seen any damage to the wheels no dints like yours. Feel the wheel is slightly to the left when going straight. Is this just tracking maybe?

What are them patches on the top of the alloys? Like 2 bits of rubber what are these there for?

Yeah look at your wheels and inside the alloys there are like 2 rectangle like rubber strips on them. I have them on most of my wheels but one of them has been flattened. Wonder if that tells me that wheel is buckled and it bursts with hard impact. Because I have hit a few pot holes over this last week.

are you sure they aren't just the wheel weights?
