How much for my engine & gearbox???

Right, when I've been looking for parts for my missus neighbour (link on my sig). I had someone driving something reverse into the front of my car in a car park outside my house..... bin men or delivery van I'm guessing.

Had a bit of an impacted cos it pushed the slam panel so the bumper, grille & lights were damaged to and then the wind managed to blow my bonnet up damaging that!!

Spent £200 on parts had 2 slam panels that got to me bent and also the rest of the parts.... if they don't come back damaged then they were parts off the wrong model

Been told yesterday I'm getting qualified early so a 50% pay raise will be on my way at the end of this month. New car is looking good now.

But to the title thread, sorry about the life story but "How much for my engine"

It's got Schrick 268 cams (inlet & exhaust)
Ported and Polished Head
3 angle valves
Remaped (all of that work done at Stealth Racing)

That engine work alone, with all the belts changed and VR6 clutch cost me £2000 got receipts here to! The car ahev been rolling roaded to 190.2bhp at the flywheel.... got rolling road print out

Along with the engine there is a machine throttle body, pipercross filter, TSR 4-1 manifold, exhaust will be included to.

Vibratechnic engine mounts, lighten and balanced flywheel.

I'm thinking about £1200-£1400 for all of the above

And now my gearbox.... 3.94 final drive (new from VW with receipts) and rebuilt last year..... Done about 7000 miles if that....... £350??

Any comments would be good.... need a boarder line to prices I think.

I think your estimates are a little optimistic, although its hard to say how much they're worth tbh

And what are you considering for the next car?? Or haven't you decided??

I wish I could get qualified early and get a pay-rise, still have another year to go though . Its going to be a long year.

with all that extra money you can buy the bits needed to put it right and use it as a toy,and buy a second car for everyday use.or get it put back together and sell it on if you want somthing new,theres fuk all damage on it tbh and wot is broken can be got second hand

Why not just go to a scrapyard and physically obtain a slam panel rather then ordering one? Or is that not convenient?

i've been trying to find a gti in the scrap yard but having no luck, was gonna get a red 8v cheap but I could see stone chips being red or be paint flakin off the bumper, etc..... lol

I'm thinking now that the money for a full respray plus parts, I could get another 16v for not far off that sort of cash with how cheap they going these days.... just making me think is there much point throwing more money at her.

Been looking at a lotus elise supercharged or a Lancer Evo 6 Tommi editon..... think i'm getting down in the dumps now and just had a tits full of everything not working out. lol

I know if i get it all sorted take her for a drive and I will have all my love back for it.

I agree with crezz, you should stick with it. It seems a shame for you to get rid of it if it doesn't have that much damage. Especially with the time and money you have put into it, like your cage.

Have you tried using 247spares.com for your parts. I used it a couple of times and the service has been excellent. Plus the request for parts you send in is sent to breakers/scrapyards over the country and they get back to you if they have it. Just a thought really.
