how similar? galaxy sharan alhambra?

I recently posted about the spare wheel winching mechanism which has failed on my 04 alhambra. knowing the Ford Galaxy, VW sharan and the Seat Alhmbra are similar cars I investigated indiviual prices for the winding mechanism

I am astonished by the difference in cost. a VW part is about £120 a Seat part is £160 and a ford part is £70.

Why the difference? Could I put an 04 galaxy winching mechanism in its place? how similar are these three cars.

the mk1 model was basically a grille and badge change between all 3 but on the mk2 for that part i'm not so sure as they seemed to unique themselves a bit, but certainly possible.

Hi there, i know what you mean about the dealer prices although ive found that GSF (German Swedish and French car parts) can supply most of the bits and bobs ive needed for our Alhambra 1.8T (no cheap engine parts for me as Ford never fitted this engine to the Galaxy) also theres a guy on here who regularly breaks Alhambras (and gives a discount to SCN members) have a look on the net for The Ford Galaxy Owners Club forum loads of info on the Galaxy, Sharan and Alhambra on there hth

Sadly the chap who broke them for spares from home retired just before christmas last year. New parts with a discount are available from Sere SEAT. What are you looking for?

Was looking for a price on a air con pump and pulley for a 99 alhambra 1.8 turbo 20v.
Trying to avoid a new one because of time of year lol.
