Right so i have been away from here for a while now, nackered pc and all that.
But i had a big problem the other day with my Leon Cupra !! I was driving down the motorway at 70mph (honest, wife and kids in the car with me !!) when there was an almighty thumping noise (like someone thumping the side of the car really fast and hard) Next thing i know is i am flashed by the bloke behind me, i pull over at the next layby and find out my rear window spoiler has been completly ripped off !! Could not find it anywhere at all.

So has anybody else had this happen ? The car is JUST out of warrenty  But surely this should not happen, maybe the odd mudflap might fall off (on an escort !!) but not my rear spoiler !! Any input from anyone...Please !!

Thanx in advance, Si

If it is just out of warranty take it to the Dealer and talk to them, I would say that this is not normal behaviour fro a major piece o bodywork to fall off and ask if they will be willing to cough up, if not try Seat UK.

I did phone seat uk and my local dealer !! Both said NO as out of warrenty !! Thought seat might have a longer warrenty on bodywork ?? Like vaxhuall do (6 years)
But was told only standard 3 years cover on seat bodywork !! Dont know if i should start writing a stern letter and enclose some pictures and send to seat uk to see if i get a responce that way ?? Really :censored: off about this !!

Thought they may be better than that, since it is just out of warranty, I would contact Seat UK again via letter and tell them that if this is the standard of CS and build quality of bodywork that it just falls off after 3 years then you don't have any confidence in their product etc, see if they will agree to a good will payment towards the repair etc, worth tyring again mate.

As said if it was a mudflap then OK but the rear roof spoiler coming away from the bolts, that is a safety hazzard at best.

currently hull, then brighton!
Just another thought for the tank,

I once used a local car wash and as the rear brush rotated its way towards the rear of the car to make an upwards sweep the sensors obviosly got it totally wrong and the mechanism nearly pulled the spoiler off, i felt the back of the car lift up on the suspension, never been through one of those since.

the spoiler looks fine but is certainly looser than before.

Could be a possibility? you may not have used one but maybe the previous owner?

This is a good thought and may also apply if a rear bike rack has been used - I went to try one, but you could see the spoiler being pulled from the car as you tightened things down - so I didnt bother.

Are you the original owner of this car ??? If not a lot of things may have happened which could lead to this.

Interestingly, I attach my bike rack to the spoiler...making me think twice about doing it again if they have a habit of falling off!

Paint and Bodywork Guarantee
Leon and Toledo models registered from 01/01/2000, and new Ibiza and new Cordoba benefit from a three year warranty against paintwork manufacturing defects. The warranty against paintwork manufacturing defects on all other models is one year. The bodywork of all Arosa, new Ibiza, new Cordoba, Leon and Toledo models is fully galvanised and benefits from a 12 year anti-perforation warranty. The anti-perforation warranty for all other models is six years.

This is what I found.... so mine is covered by a 12 year anti-perforation Warranty. :) cool.
