use the two bucket method, one bucket with water and suds the other clean water,
wash using a microfibre mitt or sponge rinsing using clean plain water before putting back into the soapy one.

then use a micro fibre drying cloth to dry whole car

then use a wax synthic like auto glym high gloss wipe lightly on car leave for 20mins and wipe off using clean microfibre cloth.

also wash dry and wax OUT OF THE SUN!

Don't use a spong mate, use a mitt like the Meg's Lambswool mitt. The fibres on it are long which meand they pull the dirt off of the car and up the fibres, rather than a sponge which can trap the dirt between it and your paint, then when you move the sponge around you get lovely fine scratches!

Also make sure you take good care of your washing equipment, if you drop any of the microfibres or your mitt make sure you give then a thourough cleaning to remove any grit etc before puting them anywhere near your paintwork.

Cheers.

2 buckets with grit guards preferably a good quality wash mitt (lambs wool is particuarly good for this) and drying with a drying waffle weave towel helps as well using a quick detailer to to help dry.

Megs nxt is a good wax not overally durable but does what it says and its fairly cheap.
