Does anyone know how to find out which wheel bearing needs replacing?

I am getting a rumbling at 20MPH+ which is worse when turning to the right and better when turning left.

My guess is the N/S (passenger) as more force is on that side when going round RH corners and all roundabouts are that way, so its bound to go first.

I am planning on changing it myself as I have all the tools inc press.

Where is the best place to get the part from and how much?

jack the car up one wheel at a time & wiggle it.

if it's a rear one, pop the wheel off & you'll be able to tell by how rough it spins

Also - check your tyres, sometimes they'll rumble if they've worn weirdly

I will try that. Not tyres as I have just had new ones on.

I have see a wheel bearing kit for £15 on GFS car parts for the Leon 99>. Will this be generic across the range or a special for the cupra / LCR?

there was some change with LCR wheel bearings, but I can't remember what it was....

I'll have a look into it

Nope do not get it.

I had my 1st MOT not so long ago and i failed due to my drivers side ball joint. I had exactly the same symptoms as you.

The MOT station twice ordered in a ''LCR'' ball joint, and twice they were sent a LC joint. On the 3rd attempt a genuine LCR joint was sent.

It is quite a bit larger than the LC's joint.

Cost about £30 if i remember right and you have to be very careful as changing it messes up the tracking. The steering wheel had to be held in the 11 o'clock position in order to go straight. I took it back and complained and in the end they had to adjust the track rods in order to allign it back up.

Thanks for that. I will have to examine further. I just presumed the bearing as I have read these are prone to go, especially on the 210 LCR.

When you tallk about ball joint, do you mean the CV joint or joint to lower wishbone?
