How to get broken glass out of boot frame?

Can anyone please recommend how to get broken glass out of the boot frame, as there are loads of pieces stuck there rattling around, following having the rear windscreen changed after an accident.

I have tried unscrewing the 2 screws on the inner bottom of the boot lid, but this doesn't seem to gain access to the inside of the metal boot frame behind that black cover - do I need to take the whole plastic cover off and get a vac in there?

Thanks in advance

The thing is stuck on very tight and it may break while removing as I was shown by an stupid auto glass idiot he then snapped the one going around the window ffs

Hi and thanks for the replies,

Coincidentally I saw another thread on the 1st page of MK1 Leon forum ( http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=350985 ) and looked through it. I got the cover off as per "r6_allan"'s instructions in another thread he linked: http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=114846

It is difficult to explain but remove your parcel shelf and push the back seats flat. Climb in your boot and undo the two screws that are in the boot grab handle trim. 1 screw in each side. Remove the bulb covers also.

Then gently and very carefully grab the plastic trim at the top near the wiper motor, with hands as wide apart as possible so not to put too much pressure on part of the trim. Start to pull quite firm the trim away from the door. It is stiff and does hurt your fingers. I found it easy to start gently rocking your body to and fro with each pull and gradually increase the pressure. It will creak and you'll hear clips pinging off inside. Don't worry as long as you don't see the trim start to crack or go outta shape then keep pulling.

Thanks allan!

I got about 10 small pieces of glass out that way, by picking them out by hand and by shaking the boot lid up and down, which got a few more out.

Now there seems to be glass pieces under the sides of the window in the boot frame - does anyone know how to get to these please?

Thanks

You take them 2 screws out and its clipped in at the sides where it meets the two plastic covers that go up the side of the boot, as said just wiggle and pull it youll see at the sides where its holding on,

Hi leoncupra,

Thanks for your reply, but I'm not sure you know what I mean: I've got the main big bit of plastic off that surrounds the boot lock, and removed all the glass pieces I can find/hear, and then closed the boot and heard more pieces of glass in the left and right hand side of the window; I had a look to see how to remove that other piece which extends around the sides and across the top under the LED brake light, but wasn't sure so wanted to check here first.

Thanks

I drove it earlier and there's no rattling now - you can only hear the loose glass in the sides on the boot if you raise or lower the boot.
