How do I get the cabin air filter door off? All photos and videos I find have the clips visible and easily accessible, but as you can see from my photo they aren't in any way accessible. They're hidden behind a piece of plastic I can't remove.

I've tried flat head screwdrivers and other plastic tools, but I simply can't get anything in there at an angle that works. They're right up against the plastic in front. From videos I've seen some will bend the lower tabs, but I don't want to risk this in case they break and the door no longer sits properly.

Do the repair shops use some special tool with a 90 degree angle or something similar? Is there a smart trick to get it off?

Are there no instructions on the inside of the packaging for the new filter?

Look like mine Cupra 2018. As "cairus" write, pry with a small screwdriver. If needed at the same time pull out with narrow pliers.
My Golf 2018 is easier to reach, no hinder there, same door/ solution.

you can't break anything. You have to work with a hammer and chisel
