Cleaned the car today but didn't get a very nice surprise.

I've done loads of miles this week (nearly 1000), mostly in the rain.

When I was cleaning the rear I realised that dirt particles (soot I think) have ingrained the tiny surface scratches on the tailgate and bumper (which were previously not visible). It is very noticeable under the seat badge used to open the boot. :wtf:

How can I get this off!? :( It's not coming of with shampoo!

Any help greatly appreciated!

EDIT: the car is OVNI

Thanks for the replies.

Just remembered I've got a brand new bottle of Autoglym Super Resin Polish in the garage! Will give it a go at the weekend.

I think I'll get a clay bar too. Just had a look at them on the net, do I need medium, hard, soft, etc and where is a good place to get one?

Thanks

Your local halfords will stock clay from the Megs range.
I'd try that before any polish, but if you pan to clay your car, try fairy liquid first.
Normally you don't want to use this as it strips the protection (wax and sealants) down to the paint, but clay does the same, so you can't win either way.
Once you've got the crap out of the paint i'd polish it up and seal it before it happens again.
If you don't have sealant then carnauba wax will do as a temporary measure.
let us know how you get on :)
