Never knew the sport tech seats were the lounge version and not the sports version, that'll be why they're a bit squishy, doh! Personally think the sports would be a fair bit better based on previous Audis I've had but agree the trade off for all the other tech goodies is a winner.

The seats are only losely based on the audi seats.. they dont have the adjustable front under thigh bolster like the audis, and the seat base cant be tilted, (the full seat can still be raised though)
likewise the lumber on the audi is electric and an be moved in and out, up and down... the seat is a dial your rotate that just moves it in and out...
the rear seats are the same.. up to 11MY IIRC the rear seat was simlar to the Audi, but then they changed the foam and deisgn to increase rear leg room and make it better for adults in the back..it doesnt look much but having put the isofix base in both my A4 and 12MY Exeo they are very different!

Thanks for the info, I think the one I'm looking at is indeed a Sport then as it has the tinted rear windows. One of the cars I'm looking at is a Sport Tech 170 with sunroof, around six months old with 6,000 miles but seems a bit cheap at £17,500 as others with that spec/engine are a few grand more. It is an ex-demonstrator though which I guess is a downside but I'd expect it's been well looked after. By comparison the 60 plate I looked at which is two and a half years old with 21,000 miles seems a little pricey by comparison at £14,000 although the trade in value may make the £17,500 quite a bit more expensive.
I agree I think the Sport tech is worth it although there's very few around with the 170 engine, the two above are pretty much the closest and they're 400 miles away. There is an 11 plate with 35,000 miles for £13,500 relatively near me (130 miles) but it has the Pioneer unit instead of the RNS-E.

there must be more!! the 170 isn't that common but they are a few, also speak to your local dealer... they have access to ex seat managment cars, (same as exdemo cars...) if your dealer is good they will be able to get in there early and get your a bargin, our ST 170 sport tech in candy white had 7k on the clock, was 3 months old and cost us £18600... the same cars on dealer forcourts (again exdemo or ex fleet) where £20k+
(theres a difference between ex mangment fleet and ex dealer demo... either way they can't sell them before 3 months otherwise they have to pay the vat on them...
if its a dealer demo they have to buy that car from seat, then run it and then when they sell it they have to add on the cost of depreciation, running etc to the price of it, some dealers are greedier than others and charge top dollar as they know the cars are in demand, others price them better to shift them... demos can some times have a hard life, we looked at one that was used as a demo / dealer pool car so had a few marks and broken trim.. but they still wanted £19k!... however the same dealer got me the same spec car from managment for £18300 and made only £300 profit on it in a hope to keep my business for servicing etc..
some ex demo cars will actually be ex managment fleet, as normally once fleet are done with them they go to an internal auction, where dealers have to bid on them, and then add their profit on top which takes them back up to £20k mark..)
The one with the sunroof sounds good, its one option I wish we had! personally I would prefer the RNSE system as it looks better and give directions in the speedo, but its personal choice as the nav is easier to use on the pioneer

There's a few more 170's but they're a lot further away and generally quite a bit more pricey, the two 'closer' ones in Manchester are an 800 mile round drive as it is.
I also prefer the RNS-E as the Pioneer unit just looks like a pretty nasty aftermarket addon, I can't believe that's how Seat put them in. Sat nav isn't that important as I'll probably stick with Tomtom but I do like the bigger screen the RNS-E offers.

There won't be, in car terms where I live is pretty remote and the 170 engine is rare. Plus most of them are more than I want to pay, there's really only the two in Manchester I'm considering for their price.
