Okay, so you're in the market for a 2019/2020 Leon MK3 1.5 and there's the choice of the above two engine outputs.

There are no external badges on the cars and, I presume, no visible difference when opening the lid and looking at the engines.

Is there a way to tell them apart - there must be some sort of marking and/or labels here and there?

Thanks

Not too sure on the Seat Leon, but on Audi A3 the higher ps variants have two exhaust tips on LHS and lower ps variants have single tip exhaust.

CO₂ emissions
114 g/km

It doesn't show the PS, but are the emissions different?

This is for a 150, the 130 I just dialled in is 1 g/km more!

Ah yea.

I think the cars look exactly the same, you will just have to look at the car through the dealer sites or Autotrader, it tells you on there.

It is annoying. I had the same issue buying my Ibiza FR. It comes in 95 and 110 hp, or something like that, and I wanted the 110 car.

I used the "TotalCarCheck" app and it shows the BHP for any reg number you enter. Might be worth a look

I would have thought that someone with a lot of knowledge of both these engines would be able to point out physical differences seen when opening the bonnet as they are two different engines and not, as the 1.2TSI and 1.0TSI are same engine basically with just different states of tune.

The 130PS 1.5TSI has a variable geometry turbo like TDI engines tend to have whereas the 150PS 1.5TSI has the normal fixed geometry turbo - but as I said I'd think that there are other visual pointers when you know what to look for.

Also, older version were DACA engine code for 130PS and DADA engine code for 150PS engines, newer engines will have again two different engine codes - I'll add them in if I can find them.

Edit:- later engine codes are DPBA for 130PS and DPCA for 150PS. - the engine code should be visible on a printed label on the cam drive cover or close by.

Interesting as I had assumed that the two different states of tune in the Leon's 1.5 motors were the invisible difference, with everything else being visually identical, on the face of it at least.

So did I initially, but it seems not, seems a bit of a faff making them both so different, but maybe for different applications that worked better - who knows.

I could be wrong, but I thought the 130PS had the variable geometry turbo where the 150PS had something slightly different?
In the past, the 1.4 125PS version had no blue marking on the centre 2 cylinders for ACT as the 1.4 150PS did. WIth the 1.0 TSI and 1.2 TSI, I believe it's the placement of the airbox, and the 1.0 is 3cylinder and 1.2 is 4cylinder?
I guess you will know that if it's a 1.5 DSG, it's definately the 150PS, as 1.5 130 has no DSG option? But if both are manual...the 130PS doesn't kangaroo? However by just looking in the engine bay, I'm not sure I could tell which was which without hte engine codes.

The wife has a 130ps 68 plate, had it from new and can confirm it does and always has kangarood during warm up period.
