Hi There,

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for accessible areas of the engine that could be marked in some way to be sure that the cambelt/tensioners/waterpump change has atleast been attempted?

E.g. particular bolts in the right locations... any thoughts?

Ask for the old ones back?
They belong to you anyway

^^^^^^Yes, I have done this , but ask for the old ones back when you go to collect and pay not when you drop it off.

Black marker on the cam belt. Tippex or nail varnish on other stuff.

As said, if you don't trust them go to a different place next time.

40,000 miles or 4 years, whichever is sooner...

Quite a short change interval compared to my previous cars (60k and 70k respectively)

status subject to change
my understanding was originally for the 1.8t it was actually a 120,000 miles change but with inspections from 60,000 miles onwards.
This then changed fairly quickly to 120,000 or 5 years.
Then quickly again to 60,000 miles or 5 years.

Recently many places are now saying 60,000 or 4 years.

Im not aware its been changed down to 40,000 miles.
