My Leon FR TDI is about 50 miles away from needing a 30k service and brake fluid change, so i've ordered the parts and booked my car in for the work to be done next week.
Get in my car this morning and i hear that dreaded "BEEEEEP" and the oil light starts flashing. My car is parked on a flat piece of road, so i check the dipstick and find there is NO OIL on it! Luckily i buy 5 litres of Millers oil when it gets serviced, so had a 1/2 litre spare in the shed which was enough to top it up (luckily).
This is the first time i've needed to top the oil up, so it's just my luck it would happen days before a service is due. I planned to keep all the 1/2 litres of oil from the future servicing so i had enough by the time an expensive service is due, but not any more
Oddly enough, my car is not smoking at all now, but over the last 2 months it started to a bit (i assumed it was down to the colder weather) so if your car has started smoking recently, might be an idea to check your oil
