My car when warm runs at around 700 rpm and seems to hunt a little on idle. Is this something that other people also get too?

Cheers

Can anyone please tell me if this is normal? If it isnt right i'd like to get it sorted asap before it becomes a bigger problem.

Thanks

Hi Kenboon,

I from time to time have the same issue when my Leon is warm i have not sorted it as it only happens once in a blue moon but my mate told me that it could be the MAF airflow sensor that might need cleaning due to an airflow problem.

Thanks for the reply.

It runs ok for around 10 seconds then hunts for a split second then runs ok again and so on. I only picked it up last week from my local Garage, so was'nt to sure if it was a trait of the car. So is the maf possibly on the way out?

Thanks

I'm taking it for a service next week at my local Dealers, will have to see what they say about it. I'v searched on here to see if theres been any other posts with the same problem, but didnt find anything that matched my cars symptoms. The car was supposidly all checked out last week over the course of 4 days and serviced before i picked it up from the Garage. But this has been like it since i picked it up.

Cheers for the reply :)

Any more info on this would be great.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply.

To be honest i'm not to mechanically minded, topping up oil and water is about my limit. Reading other posts on here they have more a sputtering sympton on idle and noticable when cold and driving. Mine just more changes tone with no rev drop.
Do they do a diagnostic check at the dealers on services? I was also thinking about maybe going to JBS for my service as there not to far away and seem to have a good knowledge of these engines. I just want to make sure its not something to major and i have not been sold a lemon from the garage.

Cheers again

If in doubt, take it to a garage or a good independent VAG specialist. If JBS are close to you, take it there. It's better to get it checked out if you're insure, there is only so much you can find out via internet forums. JBS and other VAG garages will have access to the testing kit needed to find out exactly what's going on.

I always noticed mine doing this too - and my mate's Audi TT 225 did the same - I wouldn't say it's too much to worry about it's probably something common to the engine.
